6.5/10. To be clear, this isn't really a game you play, you don't do anything. You just wait for the fish to drop and enjoy the music and visuals I use it as a background for when I really have to focus on my work/studies. The ability to customise the playlist and background sounds or to mute it to put your own music in the background is great. I just wish there were more varieties of fish and maybe other types of sea animals like shrimps or little crabs.

Consider adding a variety of sea creatures (DLC) such as clams, pearl oysters, crabs that burrow into the sand, shrimp, axolotls, small stingrays, baby sharks, a tiny island with mudskippers, squids, octopuses, jelly fish, night mode, deep sea mode, and glowing fish etc, and other marine animals beyond just fish.

I've never bought anything on Steam as fast as I did this game as soon as I spotted it. This scratches the exact itch I've been trying to fix for literal years. Placid Plastic Duck Simulator meets Windows Aquarium Screensaver, as an avid consumer of ambiance playlists on YouTube, I'm extremely grateful you're able to choose both what kind of sounds you want and how loud to make them. Easy recommendation. (And my cat approves, too)

Really soothing experience. Just don’t go in there expecting a game. Think of it like a real aquarium except the fishes don’t crap all over themselves and die of neglect. It is NOT a gamified focus tool like Spirit City where you stress yourself out micro-managing your ‘stress free’ haven. It’s very much an idle journey, put it in the background, and enjoy the soundscape. Take a fat nap, reward yourself. Put it on your TV and relish in your guests asking you where you bought such a thin aquarium and how you feed the fishes because they’re so stupid they don’t understand the concept of a screen. What a bunch of shrimpletons. It can be odd to fight the natural instinct to want to interact with the aquarium (and you very much cannot), but perhaps it’s the part of the journey towards zen mindfulness. Some suggestions and wishes: • Add a way to quick-swap between aquariums instead of going through save/load menus • Add little thumbnails next to Load/save slots to show you which aquarium is which • Auto-save would very much be appreciated as well. Hate committing complete fish genocide when closing the app by mistake • A few more default tracks and the ability to automatically shuffle songs so it doesn’t loop the same one over and over when having it in the background for a while • Selection of pre-mixed “curated” ASMR soundscapes similar to BetterSleep. Would preserve the ‘passive play’ approach while still adding a lot more lasting appeal for those using it to relax or sleep or meditate • Ability to mute the ‘fish spawn’ bloob sound effect. If you load an aquarium with 60 fishes, it’s just a nonstop army of loud bloob bloob bloob. Shut up, you’re fishes, what the hell. Nobody’s drowning, nobody’s coming to your rescue • Add an aquarium that has a giant picture of a cat staring at those fishes because who needs ASMR when you can embrace the comforting permanence of dread • Preserve sound settings from aquarium to aquarium when it comes to music volume (on/off) • Add an aquarium with skeletons of fish for Halloween and goth audiences. What is more zen than the ultimate silence of death? • Add an aquarium with day/night cycle that matches your own, to remind you of the inevitable and unstoppable march of time • Add a “flush the toilet” button so that your kids can activate some of their core memories of dropping Bloobie the goldfish down the sink. Who needs zen when you can do twenty years of therapy? • Make fishes kiss like The Sims • Allow me to name my fishes to turn them into superstars: Marlin Monroe, Tuna Turner, Sharkira, Eelton John • Imagine being that blue/yellow fish and being the only suppository-looking ugly fish mofo in a fish tank. Yikes and also lol • Clicking on the fish icon in the top left should toggle fish spawn on/off • Game is quite a memory hog on Mac at the moment even at lowest settings, which is a bummer for a companion app especially if I want to feel zen when Blender crashes all the time

Oh! I’ve been waiting for this game for so long! I’m absolutely in love with these cute little fish. It looks so beautiful! The fish and plants move just like the real ones! When I work, I always put on some lo-fi music in the background, and now I’ll have an ALMOST REAL AQUARIUM. And those relaxing, meditative sounds… maybe they’ll even help me fall asleep faster. I’d love to see more features though — like bubbles or sounds when you tap, or fish reacting to clicks. But even now, I already love it so much ❤️
