This game's premise is pretty relatable. A man loses everything and consequently goes on a journey of self-destruction and revenge. The pixel visuals work well to sell the Katana Zero-like action as you cut through swathes of enemies who are unlucky enough to stand in your way. You've got a grappling hook and an invincible dash for evasion and movement, you can attack and parry enemy melee attacks and projectiles with your knife, and you get a gun that can load different types of ammo. Do you like explosions? You'll experience tons of those during the boss fights, too. The dynamics of the protagonists and their backstories are quite interesting. I had basically no expectations going into this game, but I'm beyond pleasantly surprised. The pixel art is gorgeous, and if there's any one particular negative it's that I can't remember any of the music. Everything else is great, though, especially for the price tag.

In a few words, this is a South Korean Katana Zero: Revengeance "Dad of Son" edition, (throw Anomaly Agent in there somewhere too.) It has about as much gameplay as it does story. Both are very good. Regular encounters and half the bosses tend to be on the easier side. I'd like to see that change in the second half of the game. Also: this was made miraculously quickly if we trust the roadmap.

You know a game is going to be peak, when you curse the day she asks you to fetch a can of Pringles on the way out. -Goated game! A story of sorrow, vengeance, violence, nostalgia, suffering, and recovery. The characters are interesting, the protagonist is a man of many faces, struggles, and carries the weight of all his Sins along with the memory of his loved ones. I am yet to finish the game, but from the start the plot is awesome and keeps getting better. Character sprites are well polished, as so are the different styles of animations. While there is no background music atm during levels, this simply gives it a darker vibe that fits well with the moment. The MC is is basically Hyde at night, and once he comes home he knows he will be a Chad Jekyll because someone has been waiting eagerly for his return! At times you may feel like you're playing as Jack the Ripper, and at others a father that lost it all and to preserve the little he had of his humanity and hopes, he sought the abyss. EDIT 1/8/026: So I finally finished the game, and this was a masterpiece in the making for me even if early access. The plot had me holding unto my heart, since the feels were preety intense. I might be overreacting when it comes to these things perhaps, but the game did tear me apart emotionally speaking. It's been 13 years or more since the last time I cried. Even though I am not in favour of the ending I witnessed, I sure can't wait to see where the final project leads. I'm not going to spoil anything, so you guys play the game and find out for yourselves just how hard of an impact the story is to you all.

Awesome, fun game that really reminds me of Katana Zero with some elements from KUNAI. I really enjoyed the pacing between the story and gameplay. The narrative is engaging, and learning more about the main character as you progress feels natural and rewarding. The writing has a fun, zoomerish tone and humor (which might be cringe for some, but I had to laugh and found it amusing in a good way) that keeps things interesting without dragging on. Game does feel like some webtoon/manga/anime haha Overall, it’s a very entertaining experience and definitely worth checking out if if you enjoy these type of games and want to support the dev. (I played the demo for 2h before, some time ago and just based on that I realized this game has potential and delivers good entertainment) Can't wait for the improvements and full release in the future !
