Addictive as hell. Kinda great idea and cute looking but it has some problems. Balance is strange - some builds will work only in special conditions (like special relics or combinations) and early on you can be forced to play that build but you will never see anything that will help you to "complete" build and win in late game. Also a lot of stuff is locked behind "metaprogression" like not just new ingridients and combos, you literally cant do anything with starting ingridients before you reach point X in meta. Some relics are....strange. For example relic that gives you infinite rerolls of the ingridiends but you only have 3 seconds or it will auto-skip. You dont even get 3 seconds since time doesnt stop when animations are going so you literally have like 1.5-2 seconds to reroll + pick. In my 10 pulls I managed to do ~3-5 rerolls and find what I need but even when I clicked on the ingridient - it skipped, so I managed to pick 2 out of 10 tries. Its super annoying and terrible design. Give us like 2-3 seconds for auto-rerolls dont make it auto skip this is too punishing. You must focus at the end of the dish, remember that you will only have 3 seconds after dish is completed, try to reroll and pick what you need + animation times.... So yea, few fixes and the game will be perfect

I really liked the demo so I got the game on release. It has super cute graphics, the animations are smooth, and the overall experience is very satisfying (not the most cerebral, but sometimes it's fun to just throw ingredients in a pot and watch Numbers Go Up). I would recommend it with a single caveat--the controller support is bad. I'm picking "Yes" for "Do you recommend this game?" in general, but if you plan to play it with controller, it is a "No" right now. Since the devs announced that it was Steam Deck verified, I though it would have good controller support, but it's actually quite bad. Basically the right joystick/mousepad is used for the mouse, and then you press the joystick or click to select things. Sometimes the A button works for selection, sometimes it doesn't. If you've played the demo, you'll understand that the game does seem like it should be navigable with d-pad / face buttons only, so I hope the game gets updated with better controller support in the future.

This witchy game is fun little roguelike. Everything is well polished and charming from the character designs to the mechanics themselves. It feels almost like an auto battler, as once you pick your ingredients its sort of up to how they collide in the pot that will determine the outcome. My time with it was short, but very pleasant as once I found an OP combo I blew through the content pretty easily. There are still some unlocks, but I think you can get most of the what the game has to offer in 4-6 hours. That being said, the game could use a prestige system or run modifiers to increase the subsequent run difficulty (as well as maybe some more lore/story drops after beating it on higher tiers?) Something like that would increase replay ability. The game could use some balancing as well, the core systems are good, but some ingredients or ingredient groups are much better than others (looking at you salt fairy). Overall I wouldn't expect the next slay the spire, but it's a short fun game more than worth the asking price. I think if the developers pumped a little more content and balance to the experience they could have an even bigger hit on their hands.

The premise is a little jarring against the cute visuals but it's quite fun and well polished.
