One of the best remasters i have ever played in my entire life, not only whoever made it put some effort in. you can also play with a new camera mode or the OG one, nothing was cut or sanitized and it truly shows respect for the original game, it's a 10/10 in my book

TL:DR - a tasteful improvement which respects on the original game. Is it mediorce by modern game standards? Yes. Is it still awesome after all these years? Yes, absolutely! I cannot express just how happy I am to return to one of my favorite childhood games after all these years. The updated camera and much, much needed controller support make playing it again a much more pleasureable experience than trying to boot and make the old one work. I'm only 3 chapters in, but I'm confident I'll see the story through till the bitter end once more. The updated graphics are a mixed bag. The fidelity and quality of the models are absolutely a plus all around, the update to colour palette of the sarafan warriors is a very welcome thing, as they look much more natural instead of having that tin-foil thing going on with their armor. But some things, like the fluidity of facial expressions, appear to be lost. Some things that should be weathered are too sharp and fresh. Thankfully, a push on the right controller stick allows switching the graphic mode on the fly. I am honestly bewildered at how much more intuitive and improved the in-game menu is, from navigating and functionality, to the design and looks of it. I'm pretty sure that the old game did not have any text-based lore entries tied to key items, but now they're here, along with completely new map feature, and boy do those maps look freaking great! I cannot praise Raina Audron enough for her work on the series and jsut how happy and grateful I am to be able to return to simplier times. Oh, and did I forget to mention that there are unlockable skins in this game? Like, not paid ones, but ones you can simply discover and acquire? Because there are! There's something inifintely charming aboutbeing able to play as human Kain almost from the begining. Still, the game does have its flaws, but a whole remastered version with QOL stuff which can be turned off in favor of the original experience, along with new features that make sense and additional content that is close to canon? For just 25$? Worth every penny.

The new third-person camera really makes this game far more playable. Gameplay-wise, this isn’t some God of War–level PS2 masterpiece. It’s a fairly average game from that era where you mostly work your way through empty hallways while fighting hundreds of enemies waiting for the next cutscene to play. However, the story, characters, and the Shakespearean writing by Amy Hennig make it a real treat to experience.
