My gods, this is what I wanted from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Even though this game isn't in English, there exists two options for translation patching that, while aren't perfect, do a good enough job that you can understand the context of the scenarios well enough with a bit of critical thinking. In RoTK terms, this game is like the amalgamation of the better aspects from each of the games in that series. Roleplaying in this game is actually possible because there exist options beyond "give gift" and "discuss" spamming. You have to get to know other characters, with there literally being a trait system for defining personalities and unique character skills / quirks that you DON'T KNOW at the start, meaning there is AN ACTUAL REASON to continue engaging with NPCs, and there is quite a bit more nuance compared to the paper-thin systems present in games like RoTK13 and RoTK8 Remake. Combat is RTS-style like RoTK13, but actually involved and exciting beyond the first couple of battles with it. Fights can be generally hard, and with systems like Formations (Circle, Goose, Kancho, etc.) (Nobunaga's Ambition fans rejoice) and individual general skills that keep things fresh and exciting. Also, generals don't have just one skill like in RoTK13, with around five being the max limit. City construction and Private estate building RoTK11 style. I very likey. And I could go on, but I won't. Cause I want to go back to playing this game. Seriously, you'll be doing yourself a favor by playing this at least once, and who knows? If we show that the English-speaking audience has an interest in this amazing product (despite being Early Access, how crazy? only like halfway finished and I'm THROBBING thinking about the finished product), then perhaps the devs will add an official english translation. Or some talented guy in the community can keep doing it for us lol, I won't complain as long as I have an option.

ROTK if it is actually good. I am hoping for an official translation patch. Currently, there does exist a fanmade translation mod, which works quite fine too. Having a real blast with this game.

Setting up the english patch is not difficult. Game has potential just mechanics of it need to be better fleshed out like a jack of all trades master of non. I'm glad their settings take account of certain gameplay can be slow and settings are offered.

After 200 hours in and getting all achievements, yeah I can rate this game more properly. It's an excellent Three Kingdoms game and RPG to boot First, it's a refreshing feel of a familiar gameplay from Koei games, no doubt the devs themselves play those games. This game is closest to ROTK X and XIII where they have drawn most of their inspirations from them, this is where Koei usually have problems, they take 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards, forgetting what worked in previous games, this game brings back the good elements of those games while mixing some of their own. I generally can't find things to complain about the game as most of their issues are already patched out, they say they are an early access game but I feel like I am already kinda playing a full game, at least they released the whole thing as functional which is more than what we can say for some AAA official releases lol. The only real issue is more of a game balance issue, in one of the game's most important features (events) in order to get the best results the game will require you to start as a powerful officer as the events will have some difficult situation for the player and their companions to get out of, even first rate officers might have issues with them depending on their builds, so if you want to roleplay a weaker character to do these 190s events chances are you might not be able to get the event done before the time limit no matter how hard you train, while this time limit pretty much makes the event the high point of that current game for generals who COULD train to beat them, as in, once you beat that event everything else becomes too easy. Its a tough issue, on one hand if you make it too easy then the whole game becomes cakewalk, on the other hand if you make it too hard then the ticket of admission is much more limited in a game that is supposed to have a huge amount of freedom, as it currently stands these events is like fighting the Demon King out of the gate and then only fighting slimes right after. Personally I think the best way to go about doing this is to have the events be easier with some kind of buff and have stronger enemies for you to fight later in the game maybe, but whatever the case is, after you train you will become too powerful for the rest of the game if you are already a strong character, it is hard to keep things interesting but then it's a strategy game as well...this is what happens when you try to do it all. I am sure I have more to add but I have no time right now for that, maybe later I might make a video about it and also add more thoughts on this review
