The premise is pretty simple: it's a blend of factorio and Stardew Valley with stripped down mechanics from both games. The gameplay is not deep in either respect. But the main story is sweet and well-written. And you can finish in about 30 hours if you're not messing around. The blend of gametypes has some drawbacks. It has a Stardew like village, day system and relationship system. But the day system constantly interrupts your building without adding much to the game. The villager relationship system is like Stardew on the surface, but you don't get much in the way of item or story rewards for making friends, relationships don't degrade if you don't maintain them, and none of them are essential to win. The game wants you to build all over the town, but narratively you're discouraged from blocking the paths of villagers even though there's no way to go ham on your factory that doesn't. Fortunately, there's no negative consequences for doing so. Overall the two game systems don't mesh that well together, but it's ok because they make it so there's no need to engage with most of the game's mechanics if they're not your speed. Just build the rocket. Mess around with whatever else feels fun.

I don't understand the negative reviews for this game, it's great! It's not the most complex factory builder but it's nice to play a game in this genre I can actually complete without it taking over my life and sinking in hundreds of hours. It's the perfect length, can be completed under 30 hours even when you take your time with it, which I appreciate. The art style is brilliant and the fact there is limited available building space adds a bit of a challenge. If you like factory/automation games and don't want to get bogged down with the complexity of satisfactory play it. Really enjoyed this one!

LRL makes the factory game genre more accessible to someone like me who always felt extremely overwhelmed by it.

Little Rocket Lab is an unabashed hybrid of Factorio and Stardew Valley. It really doesn't require a full review: if you like neither of those games, it's an easy pass. If you like one of them, you may find it quirky and memorable. If you like both, it's a must-buy. I'm glad I played it.

Still feels unfinished. It gives the cozy vibe, but the quests with the townpeople never go anywhere. You can give them gifts, but filling the friend meter does nothing. I understand that it's easier and easier for me to make components, but it shouldn't really mean that the townspeople should start getting endgame components for the price of early game ones. Feels really weird, as if devs wanted to put in the quests from townspeople, because Stardew has them, but then didn't know how to balance that. Also, WHY do they need all that stuff? It's not like they make any factories around the place. I dunno. It's fun, in a way, but feels as if devs wanted to do many things at once and ended up falling short on all of them.
