I installed this game three years ago, during one of the darkest periods of my life. Lost Ember came to me at a time when I didn’t yet understand how much a human life matters - including my own. Back then, I was living in an environment where I was constantly harassed, threatened, and made to feel unsafe. I didn’t have the emotional strength to actually play the game. All I could do was listen to the soundtrack - Main Theme, Your Light, All That You Are etc. Those tracks were some of the very few things that brought me calm when everything else was unbearable. I finished Lost Ember only now, years later, and I cried almost the entire time. This game speaks about guilt, loss, forgiveness, and the value of a human life in a way very few stories ever do. I deeply wish I had played it earlier. Maybe I would have been kinder to myself. Maybe I would have understood sooner that my life had value too. ''Lost Ember'' doesn’t scream its message - it whispers it gently, and that is exactly why it stays with you. Thank you for creating something so quiet, so beautiful, and so meaningful. This game will stay with me forever. ❤️❤️❤️

the story seems cute, but migraine sufferers and people with other light sensitivity issues beware. there are often plain bright white screens as if you are being flash-banged and they made me feel very ill. the time i was able to play was pleasant other than that

Lost Ember is a stunning game. the soul-jumping mechanic feels innovative and meaningful, the world is beautiful, and the story is incredibly moving. Pair that with the gorgeous soundtrack and you’re in for an absolute treat. Only took like 5 hours to complete, but it has stuck with me ever since and I’m constantly recommending it to friends, so I figured it deserved a Steam review. Get it full price, get it during a sale, just give it a chance.

The characters don't even have expressions and I am still bawling my eyes out. That's great storytelling right there. Wonky mechanics 100% forgiven.
