I'll keep this review short and sweet. This game is 18 years old and I'm still playing it so that's saying something. Sure it's dated, some of the game mechanics are downright infuriating but it's one of those XBox 360 titles that I look back fondly on. It's like comfort food.

Typical one man army game, you start small and kill everything in sight from humans, to mechs. Small alien bugs in the dozens, to giant formidable mini-bosses that turn into regular enemies later down the line. (Creature type may vary) You're supplied with weapon pickups, mech suits and regenerating health that also acts as a timer. You replenish the timer by killing things and destroying objects. Notably gas tanks and other mech suits. You're met with a boss enemy at the end of a level and then meet the conclusion and move onto the next mission. A to B scenarios with some minor backtracking and swapping map layouts near the end of the game. Sidenote that this game has enough story to give off something larger to make you curious, in what they could've done, but it's mostly gameplay centric in terms of balancing story and gameplay. As cool as that sounds, this game suffers from your character being slow/standing in place during certain animations. So animation cancelling by jumping and rolling as well as grapple hooking is a must. What with this game being almost 20 years old, as well as being designed for consoles at the time. So you can imagine the limitations of a PC port like this. Some bonus activities include a boss rush time trial mode, score attack, arena multiplayer, and another difficulty above Hard mode. Not only do enemies hit harder, but they swap spawns around more often. There's also collectable coins in each level that only serve as achievements back then, but this isn't present on Steam since this was a Windows Live game.Overall if you want to spend 7 or so hours running through the main story it's a one and done type game. Favorite childhood game growing up so I'm a bit biased in recommending this.

A bit of a cult classic, but it isnt that special today, the graphics still hold up tho. Its a third person shooter where you fight native aliens that all need to be shot in their glowing weak spot or soldiers that also pilot mechs. The gunplay misses a bit of "oomph", but explosions still look fantastic. Here comes a bit of the problems with the game: The explosions are so over the top, after firing a rocket, it can take 10 seconds or so until you can see if you hit the damn thing and if its still there. The mechs are cool, but not that fun too control, some mechs have such a terrible fov that your aiming reticule is inside the mech, so you cant really aim. Some mechs are like halve the screen, so you cant see what your aiming at. The game also has a more "stage" structure of an arcade type game, every stage feels disjointed and just there for some gameplay idea's, which is fine by me, but could exclude some more modern players. The game is also really short, the game has 11 missions that take around 20 minutes to beat, so with skipping the cutscenes you can beat it below 4 hours without even trying. I loved it on 360, its alright today played on my Rog Ally (900p high settings 100fps). If you want to play it from nostalgia, the pc port with a controller plays perfectly, but get it on a sale. For anybody new to the series, you're not missing out much I'm sorry, past me ;) but for like 5 bucks or so, sure

Absolute classic of a title. Some parts haven't aged as gracefully but its heart is in the right place despite some stumbles near the end. It has all the hallmarks of a Capcom game: -Cheesy dialogue -OTT cinematic direction -Intriguing gameplay -Interesting world Lost Planet reminds me why I love Capcom despite their antics driving me up the wall. As a fan since 2007, It felt good to revist EDN III once more and I only hope that Capcom does a Re-release with an RE engine overhaul (not remake) maintaining the atmosphere and aesthetics as well as making QOL improvements in gameplay. Check the game out, it runs really well for an old game on modern hardware so there should be no issues whatsoever.
