Always wanted to play Worlds Adrift back when it existed, unfortunately never had a chance to play. I was ecstatic when I learned it was being rebooted as Lost Skies. I appreciate the development team for their work and for the great updates they've been rolling out. Now for the actual review: I love the resource management system in this game, disregards weight for players but each item taking a different amount of space was interesting and enjoyable. I also like the implementation of exploring being necessary, but not a burden. I can explore the world and progress the game and it doesn't feel like i'm wasting time or anything, you gain lots of rewards/loot and tech to make your ship better. A small thing I love is that i can control weapons from my ship's helm, it makes playing alone so much better. I can't possibly recommend this game more for anyone who enjoys exploring, airships, or weaponized sky whales. I can't wait to see what more the dev team can do.

Okay. During EA, I put in almost 200 hours playing, and never once encountered the "ship vanishing" bug so many complain about. After full release, I did encounter it, but only once, and it was a VERY EASY fix. I suspect there are review bombings going on, because the game is great. The "lack" of PvP is is manufactured by the irate player base, as you can shoot and kill other players and their ships in any game instance, but the "problem" is there is (currently) only six players per game host instance. What BOSSA has done is effectively eliminate the reason why Worlds Adrift died. Seal clubbing. Now, players can enter the game solo, learn the mechanics, and then if they so desire, enter someone's game instance and be on fairly equal footing, therefore not easy prey as so many seal clubbers prefer. Bugs? Psh. I have only ever encountered two bugs in the game, and neither happened during EA for me. Vanishing ship? Once. And the workaround/fix was EASY. Comically so. Second? Nude islands. Encountered this in the first ten or so hours of game play, and basically islands had nothing on them at all except base shape/size. No vegetation, animals or loot. This bug was fixed very quickly, and has not happened since. I now have a bit over 400 hours of game play, and I'm nowhere near done. I hope this game continues despite the negative review bombs of irate former WA players, because it sure does need support to rise above the current "problems" it faces. My recommendations? You've probably spent more on a game that's much worse. Please give this one some love.

I think the publisher may have pushed for the game to be launched before it needed to. We practically went from hand picked beta recipients to early access to launch in practically no time. But the game itself is good, and despite what is either publisher meddling or a really risky and, IMO, unnecessary gamble, the game deserves success and a future

TLDR: This game WILL be incredible if you let it. Please please PLEASE people, don't let this game get killed in development by review bombing or refunding it. This game is unlike anything else in gaming, it's extremely fun, it's made with such love and care from the developers, and it deserves your support . The current Mixed reviews are due to a number of factors, none of which are the fault of the developers or the game itself. The main reason is this: the publisher for Lost Skies, Humble Games, keeps pushing Bossa for development and release faster and faster, and it's just not possible for them to make something this intricate that fast. They were forced to go from public demo, to Early Access (which they openly stated they never wanted to have), to the upcoming 1.0 release in the span of 5 MONTHS. That is an ABSURD, IMPOSSIBLE deadline in game development, especially because a third of their staff got laid off right before the demo release. And because Bossa are trying their best to meet that deadline (because what else can they do?), the game is falling behind in optimization, bug fixes, and polish. Lost Skies is utterly unique. It has incredible physics and movement mechanics, deep lore, absolutely beautiful islands to explore and puzzles to complete (with many more planned), and a gameplay premise unlike any other game I've ever seen (except for one... Worlds Adrift). I have endless praise for this game. The only problems are that it's riddled with bugs and has poor performance, both due to the early state of the game and aforementioned pressure from Humble Games. If we give the devs enough support, those issues will pass, and leave behind only the amazing game underneath. But it has to survive past the 1.0 release. Even with the bugs and performance issues, Lost Skies is still WORTH BUYING AND PLAYING . I put 107 hours into the DEMO for this game, which was only available for about 2 and a half weeks, because I just couldn't put it down. I've created several islands with the island creator app in the hopes of seeing one in game. I bought Lost Skies for 6 of my friends so that they could play too. There is a whole subcommunity of players in this game entirely dedicated to just helping people, with anything , just because they want to. I hope this shows to you how much I care about Lost Skies, and why you should too. Because it's fresh and unique, the developers genuinely care about it, and it's FUN. We can't let Lost Skies end the same way Worlds Adrift did; shut down too soon in development due to lack of funding and profitability. This game is worth your time and money , and if it seems at all interesting to you just based on the trailer(s), you will enjoy it as much as I do. Please don't let this priceless gem of a game disappear.

I'm a huge fan of this franchise but I will also give an objective review to the best of my ability. Any complaints come from a place of love to the game and the desire to see it succeed. First I will say that I wish there was a neutral button for recommendation. I can't openly say, "yes go spend your money on this game" or "wait until it's polished some more." I'm a huge fan of this franchise and want to see it succeed so badly. I played World's Adrift and was devastated when the sever's were shut down and the project was abandoned because despite it being a bug ridden mess of a game, it was still one of my favorite games of all time. At the time of writing this the game is in early access and it was just announced that in roughly two weeks it will be released into V1.0. The game as it stands is an absolute mess. Game breaking bugs everywhere you look. Game features that just plain don't work, and a whole plethora of annoying bugs that aren't game breaking per say, but just kill the whole experience. This game is best enjoyed with friends but the multiplayer feels pieced together and barely functional at times. I want to believe that these issues will be mostly resolved by the time the patch to V1 goes through but man, I just have a hard time believing that the devs can pull it off. The game overall though, from my experience anyways, is fun, unique, and the art style is beautiful. The ship building is fun, and the grapple is better than any other game I've played(yes even better than Spiderman 2). It's wonky physics are fun and a curse at the same time. When it works it's a blast, when it doesn't it's bang your head on the table annoying. So my final thoughts are that if you've seen gameplay and have patients for buggy games, played Worlds Adrift or similar game's, buy it to support the devs. Other than that I'll say you might to hold off until the reviews shift into more favorable opinions.
