In Lost Wiki: Kozlovka , you're hired to investigate a series of small-town tragedies using only a limited database and grainy photos. Although it's minimalist and very short, I can't resist a browser-based detective game and was instantly smitten with the digital-Blair-Witch vibes. There are no spoilers in this review. Gameplay + Details Click hyperlinks to navigate a wiki while dragging key terms into blank spaces of a report. Submit reports to receive a new email, new report, and occasional clues. (Reminder to fellow Americans that most countries format dates as DD/MM.) Controls. Mouse + Keyboard recommended. Playtime. ~1-2 hours, depending on reading speed/notes. Settings/Options. Options to turn off CRT Effect, Dithering, and/or Red Ghosting. What Works For Me βœ… The retro vibes, hints of occult, and subtle music are - chef's kiss . βœ… A built-in flow chart lets you quickly navigate the wiki. βœ… Kozlovka has quite the storied past. βœ… Story is introduced well and entirely self-contained. βœ… Three possible endings. Game resets to before final report. What Doesn't Work For Me πŸŸ₯ No real need to take notes, if you're into that kinda thing. πŸŸ₯ The last several reports felt obvious and repetitive. πŸŸ₯ No real red herrings or superfluous tangents. πŸŸ₯ Obviously no replayability. Final Thoughts + Recommendation I enjoyed my brief time with Lost Wiki: Kozlovka ; in fact, my main complaint is that there isn't more to find. Where similar titles might drown you in unnecessary information or lead you astray with red herrings, each article in Lost Wiki is only a few paragraphs and contributes to the overall plot. As a result, the story builds tantalizingly slowly at first only to come together all at once -- and well before the final report. That said, the story is interesting and twisty enough to keep you on your toes for a bit, with some cleverly disguised clues and no dangling threads. Also, I love the database design; dev yattytheman took full advantage of stock photos and shaders to create a truly unique aesthetic. I recommend giving this a go if you're looking for something bite-sized and vaguely [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/2754380/The_Roottrees_are_Dead/?curator_clanid=45365863]Roottrees -ish. Loved it! It's a short, clean, self-contained story that works combined with the thrill of your own investigation: had it been just a piece of fiction, it would've been fairly anticlimactic, but the feeling of piecing the mystery together is great. The investigation itself is simple, but not on-the-nose just enough to stay engaging: not everything is written straight up, sometimes you have to make a guess or to compare some indirect references. Would like to spend more time with some of the characters ( Volha, Jan, and Liliya ), but not every good thing needs sequels, and I like the endings here. Overall, out of similar database investigations games I played, I would rate this one somewhere between Her Story and Telling Lies: Her Story is more engaging as a, well, story, and Telling Lies is (way) less coherent. Definitely a great way to spend ~two hours as well.

I enjoyed it! Really nice story and pixelart! Small notes but they're not by any means important to list out. I can for sure see 'Lost Wiki' being a series of games.

A great self-contained mystery! The web of articles is a cool feature, and designed well: dead ends often hint at what info is needed, and you're never left stuck for very long. I would highly recommend using the bookmark feature as the chart fills out though, as it can be a bit tedious to navigate back and forth to find the same few titles otherwise. The game is pretty short, and not particularly difficult - especially if you've played similar games before - but it is satisfying nonetheless as you work your way through unraveling the story. Aesthetics and vibes are great as well. Definitely enjoyed the hour or so I spent with Kozlovka, and would recommend.

Rather short but does well with its tone and setting. Wish the mystery was generally harder to solve and had more substance, felt rather predictable, but i enjoyed my time with it.
