I last wrote words about this game when doing a FNF post for Destructoids front page. It's been a damn while, in other words (6+ yrs). I had forgotten this gem. Figured it abandoned or lost. Well, (unlike Destructoid) it wasn't. It's almost across the finish actually (v0.95 at this time), and gods damned is it good. Gunplay is fantastic (shotguns actually work, trigger actions too!). Diving/jumping/kicking takes a minute to get the hang of, but once you do and when combined with the slow mo... chef's kiss. An amazing sandbox of gunplay and murder, and an excellent homage to 80s and 90s action flicks. Workshop support, the level editor, and endless mode are just (very) lovely bows, on an impressive package. I highly recommend it.

You can dive while firing two guns, then drop-kick a guy into an exploding car. What more do you want??? The new Player Controller update is an insane upgrade to the way your character controls and moves, I just can't stop flowing my way through rooms while I dodge bullets and slidekicking every enemy directly in the nuts so hard that I break the physics on their corpse, sticking them halfway through the wall and condemning them to an eternal, unending electric boogaloo of death. So yes. I recommend the game.

Beat it 3 times within the 7 hours I've played it, can say with 100% certainty it is one of the most fun games I personally have played to date.

A must play for John Woo, Max Payne, Chow Yun Fat, or 80s/90s action film fans. If you don't meet the above criteria then I would suggest waiting till its out of early access as this early access version does have bugs and the main content can be finished in a few hours however those who love exploring the workshop will get a really good bang for their buck out of it as the Max Payne style combat + the endless mode + the scoring system allows for high replayability.

Maximum Action replicates the style of Hong Kong action cinema wonderfully. Making it feel really good to pull off some sick kills on the unsuspecting bullet sponges. Even having a level editor for people to make their own crazy scenarios is really sick and shows that the team behind this wonderful game wants people to get creative and just have a bullet filled fun time!
