The game looks and plays great! Co-op is amazing as ever. There are issues, however. (On the Deck specifically, a cutscene played out of order right after clearing the tutorial. Others have reported this as well. Hopefully it's fixed soon, especially for first-time players.) The controls are the most problematic element plaguing the game, as far as I'm concerned. The stick sensitivity is out of whack... What worked for me was: >Library >select and right-click on game >Manage >Controller layout In the Controller Layout menu, under the Official Layout for METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker - Master Collection Version - Official Configuration... >Edit Layout >Joysticks >Right Joystick In the Behavior submenu, click the settings cog... Scroll down to Deadzones... Select "No Deadzone" from the drop-down menu. Repeat for Left Joystick. This should resolve sensitivity-related movement and aiming problems. (As a veteran PW player, the game feels right after adjusting the aforementioned settings and I've had no further issues in the subsequent five hours of playtime.) I recommend this game... with an asterisk. For desktop users - particularly those with friends interested in playing - it's an easy, unequivocal, "Yes." For those who plan to play exclusively on Steam Deck, consider waiting for an official patch. [Review will be updated to reflect any potential changes made to the game.]

Amazing game, I had easily 300+ hours on the PSP version when it came out. The game features episodic missions paired with base management / upgrade mechanics, which makes for a surprisingly addictive gameplay loop. Plays beautifully on Steam Deck, I feel like it’s 2010 again.

They had 1 job, transfer the original game to pc without changing things. They knocked that out of the park. Anyone who was somehow expecting something more than that just blows my mind. There is a bug at launch. The mouse and keyboard input is attempting to emulate thumbsticks, and there is delay in doing so. The game was originally a hand held game, it has always presumed the thumbsticks. Shouldn't be too long before that gets sorted. Its not a game that NEEDS mouse level precision, so its not "unplayable". just use a gamepad for now. Its perfect.

The world can't take on one snake. Let alone 4. If you ever wanted a MGS game to play with the boys, this is the one for you. You get co-op for Campaign and Side Ops. There are even Monster Hunter collab boss fights in the game too! So glad to have this on PC since we don't have Metal Gear Online for MGS 4.
