I will take any chance I can to explore more of the Forgotten Realms. The main campaign was just okay, pretty bread and butter fantasy, I think it spent too much time inside the city. I was relieved to get out. The DLCs are where it's at--some of the best campaigns for this game are on the DLCs. Some of them give you epic levels and let's you have fun with it. We don't see that much these days. This game is more of a platform for stories than just a single game. You can tell almost any story within this engine. Buy it if you miss old school RPGs and particularly some D&D 3.0 and Faerun. A lot of fun fi your imagination can fill the gaps.

First off, obligatory ignore the play time, I probably I have over a thousand hours in this game on other platforms. Anyway OG gamer here, I'm 30+ and have been playing this game since it first came out, so let me sit down and tell you a bit about it. This game is very different, the gameplay is very much secondary here. Obviously the graphics are very dated as well. So why should anyone play this these days? Well again, this game does something no modern game is doing right now which is this; It's an rpg based on the older D&D 3.0 ruleset where the main appeal is to go player created content and roleplay. That doesn't mean you have to play with other people by the way, there are lots of modules made for one person, or where at the very least, multiplayer is optional. It's hard to even explain this because there really isn't any other game to compare it to. The only thing that comes to mind is this, imagine a game where the modding scene is like skyrim except it's ALL elaborate quest mods. I don't mean like the quest mods where a side quest is added to the skyrim open world either, I mean imagine every mod is like Enderal where each module is it's own story and setting. The stuff the community came up with back then, and still does is absolutely insane. It's SO good! There are very few places left, especially in gaming where you will find this much unfiltered collaborative creativity. I know I used some references that some of you might not get to explain, however if you are still up in the air, I suggest looking up some videos explaining what this game is. It would be much easier to explain by showing, and i know there are some good folks on youtube making videos about this game.

It all started as a curiosity, to play a game from 2002 for the first time in 2026. With my love for Bioware (ME and DA), a couple of visual patches and HD packs for upgrades, I said to myself, 'Aight sis let's ride at dawn'. Then I learned that there were more than one campaign included. Yeah more hours gone from my life. My curiosity brought me to Neverwinter Vault and discovered custom modules?????? Epic campaigns??? Short stories???? WHAT Ladies, gentlemen and gentlethems, I have now reached peak gremlin state. I've completely lost in touch with the sunlight and society, for my life is meant for this game, and this game only. I don’t think this review offers anything useful to someone who hasn’t played it. There’s no grand takeaway here. But Neverwinter Nights made me feel like a child again -one who longed for a game like this-and now, at last... I’m living the girlhood I was always meant to have.
