This games got a lot of potential, and its important to understand it's still in early access. With that being said I will focus on aspects that can be improved. Magic system overhaul: Magic is just too weak in it's current state, I only see them being buff bots in their current state. It's important to note the permanent costs associated with magic when determining their scaling. EX. Fireball dealing 10 +1d6 is laughable when the mages auto attack does 25-30 damage or the diesel engineer does 100-300 with a burst fire. Impact of leveling: Simply put without the primary attributes being impacted by leveling the entire leveling process only benefits your skills and a few noteworthy talents. Overall it leaves a bad taste where the player doesn't feel like they are getting stronger as a result of leveling, given how powerful primary stats are I'm not sure how to rectify this... but it might be interesting to let you pick tech blue prints when you level or specific magic cards for mages when you level up(perhaps cards outside their class like getting a Pray card on a hellfire mage). Avoiding combat exp: A common issue with games that offer non aggressive ways to resolve combat is not giving the player compensation exp or even full fight exp for their approach. One of the main issues for adding this system is that players will often resolve it this way then kill the NPC's after (murder hobo parties), but the game currently doesn't have a feature that lets you kill non hostile NPC's so I think it would be a safe and welcome addition for players trying not to traumatize Maghda. Balancing in general: Assuming that harder difficulties are not going to be added, it'll be a good idea to look at diesel engineers revolver / mini gun damage output compared to other classes. Trick shot and burst fire mechanics make clearing the board trivial, add a mage buff to damage and most bosses are one shot by burst fire. Likewise the steam engineers hammer giving 2 CC options really outshine the fists. If harder difficulties levels are added it might shift the convo to buffing other class / weapons rather then nerfing these weapon / classes, but I think some attention should be paid to them so other builds are still viable. Shared character leveling: Minor gripe I'm sure will be fixed for release, just making it so companions have the same exp as your main character. Other issues I encountered I feel comfortable chalking up to "early access" issues so I won't list them. Overall this has a strong foundation I just wanted to point out key issues that should be looked over before the full release. I look forward to the next big patch, and wish the dev team luck on this ambitious project!

its only in early access at the moment so take my review as you will there are only two starting classes (diesel tech and voodoo magic) as well as two races to choose from (elf and human) but damn this game is shaping up to be a masterpiece that combines fantasy and steampunk, the story is involved, the skill checks are interesting and the characters so far are well fleshed out with unique personalities

The TLDR: The game is good and I enjoyed it even in it's unpolished state (remember it is in EA). Pros: - Steampunk - Story was engaging - Graphics were very good - Voice acting was well done - Over-arching political implications - Numerous side quests (including a few hidden ones) - Characters appear to well developed (at least through first chapter) Cons: - Ran into one crash - Encountered a few misspellings\auto-corrected to wrong word scenarios -- The example I remember right now was the chicken saying ballets instead of battles - Map needs additional features -- Not all quests tagged on map -- Shops weren't tagged on map like the legend indicates -- No custom tags - Narrator should be voiced for all conversations where the Narrator is speaking not just when there is other voice actors - Limited classes, races, and customization available in character creation - Movement options need refinement

A Resplendent Revival: The New Arc Captures the Spirit of Arcanum In a time where many sequels falter and spiritual successors crumble under the weight of nostalgia, the new arc emerges not merely unscathed, but triumphant. It doesn’t just revisit the soul of Arcanum—it communes with it. From the moment the narrative unfolds, one is transported back to that uniquely rich blend of magic and machinery, the very essence that made Arcanum a legend among genre connoisseurs. The writing is sharp, bordering on the baroque at times, but always in service of the lore. Characters bristle with philosophy and contradiction, their motives as layered and mysterious as the old world itself. The aesthetic? A masterstroke. Steampunk elegance reimagined, yet unmistakably loyal to the rusted splendor of the original. And let us not forget the moral ambiguity—the murky waters where ideology, technology, and sorcery converge. It’s all here, more refined and daring than ever, like a fine absinthe aged in the mind of a genius gone mad. Simply put, the new arc doesn’t mimic Arcanum—it inherits its bloodline. A work of reverent innovation.

Good showcase of games core systems. Interesting magic system and a good intro into the story. While parts could be changed, i personally think that they are just placeholders and will be improved. Character introduced are interesting and varied. And generally showcase their classes. \Currently only 2 character classes are available. Steampunker, a heavy melee tech class and a voodoo sorceror a debuff/control focused magic one. As long as you don't expect full game going in you should be satisfied. At least i was. Also i suck a writing reviews :D
