Suggestion: Add "Transport Density" and "Passenger-Kilometers" to Line Statistics Thank you for creating such an incredible transit sandbox. As a hardcore railway enthusiast, I’d love to suggest two key performance indicators (KPIs) that would significantly enhance the management and auditing depth of the game, inspired by real-world Japanese railway standards (JR and Major Private Railways). Currently, the game tracks raw boarding numbers and total trip counts, but adding the following two metrics would allow players to truly "audit" the efficiency of their networks: 1. Transport Density (延日キロ / Passenger Density per KM) • Formula: Total Passenger-Kilometers ÷ (Line Length × Period Days) • Why it’s needed: Total boarding numbers can be misleading. A line with 50,000 riders on a 5km stretch is vastly different from 50,000 riders on a 50km stretch. • In-game benefit: This gives us a "Heat Map" in data form. It tells us exactly how "saturated" the tracks are. It’s the ultimate metric used by the Japanese government to decide whether a line should be upgraded to a metro, or unfortunately, decommissioned. 2. Total Passenger-Kilometers (旅客人キロ) • Formula: Σ (Number of Passengers × Distance Each Passenger Traveled) • Why it’s needed: This represents the actual "workload" or "output" of the line. Boarding counts don't reflect whether people are taking short hops or long-haul commutes. • In-game benefit: This would help players understand their revenue better (especially for distance-based fares) and help calculate the "Load Factor" of the rolling stock. Why these fit NIMBY Rails? NIMBY Rails is a 1:1 scale simulation. These metrics are the industry standard for 1:1 scale railway accounting. By providing these, players can transition from just "watching trains move" to "becoming a strategic transit auditor." It would be amazing to see a "Daily Average Transport Density" column in the Line or Station stats window. Overall, thank you for considering this! Keep up the great work.

Don't go into this expecting a game, this is more a gameified CAD software for people who (like me, with a severe case of The Train Autism) will genuinely spend hours with mapping software just sketching out train lines because trains and public transport are inherently spellbinding. But if you are one of these people then this might as well be a drug. It's very complex and you have to read community-made documentation, but i don't know of anything even remotely like it. And once your brain cells have rewired themselves to make sense of everything it becomes pretty intuitive and frictionless, and i'm pretty sure this is genuinely really useful as a learning tool for anyone who wants to design railways and services in real life; because in the process of dealing with problems that arise in my railways i could basically physically feel my neurons making new connections as signalling and the details of how tracks work became intuitive.

Incredibly unique and fun concept for a game. Unfortunately a year or two ago, the updates got too "nerdy"... now you need a degree in train management to be able to run two trains on the same line without crashing. I miss the old version where the AI handled signals and all that jazz. But man, what a fun game this was before it got gatekept away from us normies. Dev: Please add achievements and make the game playable for folks that want to lay lines around the real world and connect trains around there without needing a PhD in timetables.

At first this game will drive you absolutely mad. No explanations, cryptic menus, nothing makes sense. Honestly, I even refunded it once. But after thinking about it for a while, I decided to give NIMBY another chance and honestly, it was not a mistake! Once you figure out how everything connects, from lines and signals to depots and offsets, it suddenly clicks and becomes truly addictive. If you enjoy designing railway networks, optimizing timetables and bringing order to chaos, you will not find another game that goes this deep. A frustrating start but pure fascination once it clicks.
