Hated the game when I played it on launch on Epic Store. Wanted to give it another shot, and I had a blast.

Magnificent. A worthy successor to classic games! Pros: + Very interesting story + Graphics and animations + Excellent sound and music + Attractive world and lore Cons: - No Quick Save (it needed, cuz u won't to make so many repeated actions) - Bad intructions for PC contorls (it take a lot of time to understand right keys) Conclusion: * Game is awesome - graphics, story, sound, cinematics, characters - all is very nice! * In general gameplay is good except lack of tutorial anf keybindings info. * Quick saves is a must have (maybe some harcore mode in the future for no qs or something? But in casual game it is needed. PS: Inhabitants! We are waiting for next chapters...!!! -_-

I am a big fan of the Oddworld series, it was my childhood game ever since Abe's Oddysee, but something about this game just didn't fit right from the previous games they did. First of all the graphics are amazing, along side with the cutscenes from it, I can tell there was a lot of effort placed in those and I cannot lie it was really great seeing this improvement, the map design was also well made and felt more alive than before and the story wasn't something I expected, but it wasn't too bad in the end. For the gameplay perspective I feel mixed feeling about it, the movement is pretty good, the fact that you can double jump and you're able to dodge some bullets and environment is nice, you're more mobile than before. I do dislike the commands when you talk to the mudokons, From 9 different options you remain with only two, the option to say "Hi" and to "Follow", the Passive/Aggressive ones I never used because I felt no difference in it. Also in this topic whenever you walk or run while some mudokons are nearby and call them, some will stand there like they didn't heard you, or when they follow you some of them are very slow and don't move at the same time with the others and are left behind either to get crushed or killed. The mechanic of giving them something to throw isn't the greatest, it feels a bit buggy and sometimes they take too long to throw objects or throw too many. This is mostly on levels where you have to rescue the mudokons from the background and you have to protect then while they climb which it was the most infuriating thing I found in the whole game and that is when I gave up on making good Quama. The different mudokons like in Exoddus, the blind ones, angry, sad, drunk, etc. those were such great mechanics that I liked a lot, but they weren't there, I know they did say that this is not an Exoddus remake but I thought they could add some features from it since it was one of the best games they made. The crafting in this game is something new and never expected it, sometimes I was not using it unless the game required you to, you can have different play styles with each throwable the game offers you but you end up limited on what you can use, I don't know why we can't carry everything we get on every level, it makes no sense to me when you enter a new level and all of you inventory will be empty and throw away the moolah Abe gets, but the keys are permanent? Why would Abe get rid of the stuff he got in the previous section, not to mention that you will use some items once or twice in the whole game, then you won't find them ever. About the badges, they aren't really important to me, I never paid any attention to it but it make it much easier to know if there are more mudokons to rescue or if there are secret areas in that level, other than that I never was interested in them. On to some levels that I found interesting but felt a bit disappointed because they weren't longer. The Sanctum was something I expected and didn't at the same time, the Sleeches are a much more improved and difficult type of fleeches, which were in the previous games as well, but they didn't felt as dangerous as before since you can keep a torch lit and run in them, you'll never get touched. The Sanctum was something I would expect from the Oddworld series, something like a temple it is a must have in every game they did, it was very short but still fun, but I thought I'd see some Scrabs and Paramites they were in every game and not seeing them in here felt off, I really wanted to be chased by a Scrab or to possess a Paramite to talk to my other Paramite brothers but no, they were scraped in this game. There were more variations of the Sligs with different arsenals or even armor, something I didn't expect, and the Slogs were ok too, but that was pretty much it. The Glukkons that were introduced I thought it was going to be like in Abe's Exoddus or Munch's Oddysee were you control them but no, they aren't there, only in the cutscenes. Overall, the game wanted to be something new and more advanced than the previous games, I cannot say I'd recommend this or not I have mixed feelings about it, I really did try to enjoy this game since is my favorite series but I couldn't wait to end it already, somehow I got the bad ending and couldn't play the last 2 levels, but I don't think I'll try it again.

I tried my best to enjoy this game, but I couldn't i wish we had a remake of the original instead of this reimagined edition that nobody asked for. It has impressive graphics and new interesting game mechanics, but they just don’t work for me.

I actually bought this game new for my PS4 and I liked it so much I bought it again for my Steam Deck. Runs perfectly and being a fan of the Oddworld series, I bought all the previous titles as well. Soulstorm brings a mayhem of puzzles to figure out with beautifully styled graphics and detail. I highly recommend this title if you are into action-adventure platformer games. I like the crafting and new way to solve puzzles, it's an Oddworld game.
