This is an amazing little game with a terrible dev. Don't get me wrong. I've played this game off and on for years and will continue to do so because it can be INSANELY rewarding to be a good mom to a new player, or to be one of the boys trapping rabbits for an eve camp on the brink of starvation, or to build the place's newcomen well. It's fun to contribute to something and it's fun to roleplay a little. In what other game is "I love you mom?" an integral part of player culture? The problem is that player culture is actively in spite of the dev's actions, not because of it. Jason has never seem interested in creating a fun, wholesome multiplayer video game. Jason wanted his own Stanford Prison Experiment, and that became exceedingly clear in his (complete lack of) response to griefing, poor player behavior, racism, and toxicity. The curse system is pretty broken. It doesn't work as "intended", and many players have expressed this but Jason's response largely has been "that's not my problem. In real life you have to figure it out." Well, Jason, this is a video game. YOU are in charge. It absolutely is your problem and there are so many ways you could have handled people trying to name other players the n-slur or building n*zi symbols within the game. Instead you chose to say "not my problem", and that's really disappointing. There are many other things I could say about the tech tree, the punishing resource and (very stupid) race-locked mechanics which were NOT there last time I played the game, the half-assed language system, and poor balancing. These are issues that make the game actively less fun to play, and players have repeatedly asked for changes over the years, but Jason has made it clear that in his mind these a feature, not a balance issue. Buy it on sale, play it occasionally. It's worth playing but if you sink too much time into it you will run the risk of getting bored or running into too many griefers. This game is best played an hour or two at a time, where you can really sit down and invest in the life you're given and interact with other players. MOST players are very nice and happy to help. Tell them you're new and ask how to do things. Just don't expect anything from the developer. Many new players this past month due to the sale have encountered griefing and asked how to report poor behavior, and I've been extremely sorry to tell them that there isn't a way to, because Jason doesn't care.

I'm very happy to had been part of the community of this game. I played hundreds of lives, enjoyed each one of them. This game is so simple, but it has something special that I can't explain. In the end, even I wasn't able to make the airplane that I always dreamed, I could enjoy the several lives I played. Every single player of this game here's my very sincere THANK YOU for sharing your time with me in this game and for Jason(the game's creator), I don't have words for thank you enough for creating this masterpiece. Jason, I hope you and you wife enjoy your new baby coming and I hope you get inspirations to for your next game and someday, I'll be there for having an amazing experience again. I'll be looking forward for your next creation! See ya folks~~

love this game... been playing a few months and im still learning things. what i dont like thoe is that not many people play the game so families dont last long wish i was playing when it first was released

Very satisfying but grindy game. It's difficult to get into at first but once you learn how to craft and move around it's very rewarding!! Would recommend if you don't mind having a wiki open while playing

This game gives you such an unique experience! You spawn as a baby, The mother will be another player that will raise you and then after one hour you'll die by old age, unless you die by something other. The first thing you'll learn is , DON'T STARVE!! and YUM is good! My experience is good, People are super friendly and some even uses their whole "life" to teach me stuff, the community is awesome. I know there have been problems with griefers but tbh I've only met one or two griefers so far and it ended that me and my family chaised them out in the woods and a bear killed them xD. The game is transient since everyone dies of age and then is respawned elsewhere as a baby, So you do not play for your personal gain but for your family's/generation to keep on living and having a better life than you had. You have to work together to keep the town going with everything as fire,houses, food, baking etc etc. This game is not for everyone which you'll notice since the playerbase is not that big but once in a while there is a spike in interest. Learning curve is big imo, At 100 hours in I still feel like a noob with anything regarding crafting but as I said, people are generally super helpfull and will help/teach you stuff if you just ask! 10/10, Great experience and the game kinda grows on you. Time flies while playing :-) You'll never forget your first mom, Thanks "Bartha Galay" !
