Overlord by Triumph Studios Release Year: 2007 Genre: Action RPG Replay length: 15hrs Overlord has you playing as a recently unearthed evil overlord, who has to retake his kingdom from a rogue's gallery of corrupted heroes, while an even more sinister force lurks in the background... Positives: World Design - Overlord has a surprisingly well thought out fantasy world to explore Art Style - The look of the game really sells a Discworld style fantasy parody setting Minions - The game's breakout stars, the joyfully silly minions are your primary source of gameplay interaction Negatives: Pacing - The game starts off strong, but sags towards the end with too many visually bland areas Pathfinding - Minion pathfinding is an issue throughout the game, and their AI can get stuck on objects Ending - The final boss fight is well done, but the ending overall is rushed Final Thoughts: Overlord really thrives in the early-to-mid game, when the level design is at its best and before the relatively shallow combat has worn thin. There are plenty of laughs throughout, but you can't help but feel the game needs something extra... Final Score: 7/10 ...Speaking of! Overlord: Raising Hell by Triumph Studios Release Year: 2008 Genre: Action RPG Replay length: 10hrs A parallel story to the original game, Raising Hell has the overlord dealing with the emergence of abysses across his new kingdom that appear to be punishing old foes. Positives: Comedy - While the first game had its moments, Raising Hell can be genuinely hilarious Puzzles - The complexity of this game's puzzles are light years ahead of the original Story - The story-lite first game worked, but the narrative here is more direct and arguably better told Negatives: Short Length - With only five abysses to explore, the game feels a few hours shorter than it should be Visual Design - The overall look of the game is fairly bland and generic Final Boss - As there is only one boss in the game, it's a shame that it ends on a whimper Final Thoughts: Rhianna Pratchett did her father proud with this one, it's chock full of entertaining comedic moments and paired with gameplay that shows a deeper understanding of the game's mechanics than the base game had. It's just a shame that the ending is underwhelming. Final Score: 8/10

Definitely play this version. And prepare yourself, you're gonna get cooked by halfings several times This game is just fantastic, it's like Pikmin meets a whimsical Lord of the Rings Lots of fun just sweeping with the browns and watching them equip anything they can get their grubby hands on I would call this one of my all time favourites

I grew up on these games and to be honest I'm really not sure how my parents let me play them, to explain the plot in its simplest form you are evil fighting evil people while using evil magic and evil minions while also kicking the absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of your annoying ass jester, 10 evil freaky festers out of 10.

This game is dripping with personality that is hard to find in a lot of modern games. Everything works in tandem with everything else. The writing is often funny and engaging even though you're a silent protagonist, the voice acting is lovingly done with such character and enthusiasm its infectious. Which is great since most of the time you'll be hearing the same voices for 90% of the game. The gameplay has surprising levels of depth between enemy types and which minions you should use to best conquer. With the top down POV and micromanaging you can quickly get overwhelmed! When your able to crush your foes, they can drop loot, weapons, armor, or gold. The more you collect the more your minions can stand toe to toe by themselves while you the Overlord™ can focus on bigger threats. Either help the minions or watch as they helplessly get cut down. You can kick them or send fireballs flying at their face. They don't care in fact they want it, so long as you the Overlord™ are alive and thriving your minions will literally jump into a smelter just to infuse your gear with a little extra umph. In summary Overlord™ Raising Hell is a great game that you should play if you have time to kill and like leading a team of intellectually stunted but well meaning (for your cause) minions. 7.5 out of 10 really fun but Overlord™2 is way better. If you are interested in Overlord™ I strongly recommend playing 2 first, it is much more well thought-out product with smoothing but the same charm that you can come to enjoy from the franchise. One day Overlord 3 will happen, and in the words of your soon to be favorite right claw of Evil Gnral, "Evil always finds a way!"
