This is not "Pokémon with guns", this is Ark Survival Evolved with Pokémon. If you like survival/crafting games and like monster catching games, there is nothing better on the market than Palworld, period. This comes from someone who has been playing Pokémon since generation 1. It came out when I was in middle school and I have played every mainline game and most of the side games. I'm still a fan of Pokémon, but this is such a fresh take on the monster catching genre that Gamefreak has a ton of catching up to do. I also have over 1000 hours in ARK and Survival Evolved. I played it mostly in the first few years of it's life. All the base building and creature systems in Palworld are leagues better than ARK in every conceivable way. It's unknown if ARK 2 is still happening, but it now has a really high bar to live up to. --------------------------------------- 10 tips for new players to make your experience more enjoyable: 1. Catch 5 of every Pal. You'll know you've caught your 5 when the icon to the right of a wild pal's name goes from white to yellow. This rewards you with an effigy (see #5). 2. Follow the MSQ (Main Story Quest). It'll lead you naturally from area to area by the levels of the pals in that area. The MSQ also unlocks the towers (gym leaders) as you progress through it, which unlocks specific nodes in the tech tree that you will need. 3. Put your stat points in Weight and Stamina first. I put every point in weight until I got to 2000, then put the rest in Stamina. Weight increases your carry capacity which is super important for farming heavy rarer ores and Stamina allows you to sprint and mine longer without getting tired, Stamina also effects the pals you are riding. 4. Get a few Vixy's early (little white & brown dog/fox guy), build a Ranch (unlocked at level 5), put them in it. Passive money, arrow and palsphere generation. 5. Build a Statue of Power as soon as possible (unlocked at level 9) and make sure you feed all the pal effigies that you find into it to give your player some extra passive stats. Most effigies are found on the overworld, they look like little glowing pal statues on a pedestal and there are 12 different types. Different areas have different effigies. 6. Do every active dungeon that you come across (the caves with a blue glowy aura), they have tons of good things inside from pals and rare materials to blueprints and pal upgrade materials and more. Some of them are even just single-room treasure rooms. 7. As soon as you unlock your 2nd base, use it as an iron farming base and fill it with good mining pals. Iron Ore is the basis for everything from that point on and you will need tons of it for; higher level palshpheres, weapons, ammo, armor, accessories, base building materials and more. 8. Feed your Pals! You will need a ton of food for your pals, especially as you unlock additional bases and have more and more pals deployed and doing tasks. Check each base periodically and makes sure they don't run out of food or the pals will get bad debuffs that are detrimental and are a bit of a pain to cure. Cooked food is better than non-cooked. Have at least half a base dedicated to farming food. 9. Unlock the Guild Chest at level 41 and put one in each of your bases. These chests have a large storage capacity and all share the same inventory, so put your most used crafting materials inside of them so you have access to all of them from all of your bases! 10. Have fun and go at your own pace! There is so much to do in Palworld. Rotate your time between; working on your bases, going out and exploring the world, catching some new pals, doing some dungeons, battling some bosses, doing the main story quest and just living your best Palworld Life. -------------------------------------------------- Whether you like to play on a solo map or a dedicated server with friends, do not pass up this absolute gem of an experience. 10/10 Perfection.
I don't play games often. My grandkids got me into this game. The last game I put this much time into was Breath of the Wild which this game has a few similarities to. I hope the tree is going to be a bridge to other realms as large as this one. I highly recommend! After 1447 hours so far I'd say it's worth the money.
This is one of those games where you log in with a specific goal in mind, and then 4 hours pass. You'll go out to get materials, build something, or catch a specific Pal, but instead end up exploring a new area of the map, finding dungeons, uncommon Pals, and becoming completely sidetracked. Great game, highly recomend it. And there's a new patch update happening soon.
