The only Theme Park games better than this one are the OG Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe, and Sim Theme Park. This is essentially a clone of RCTycoon and that's it's best feature. The additions or changes to gameplay are basically just two. First one being how important decorations are, you have to hide bathrooms and employee areas behind walls and fences, and you need to decorate your queue lines or people think your park is ugly. Second one being employees themselves, you cannot put shops everywhere there is an open space anymore, since employees need to manually stock all the stands and if they are caught walking said supplies over to the stand, guests get upset. So a better strategy is making food courts with employee areas behind it. There are employee only walkways, and break rooms, it's not annoying or anything, just different. I haven't noticed anything else that really separates Parkitect from RCTycoon. Well, graphics of course. There are mods to add the ability to visit your own park and ride your rides like in Sim Theme Park. Other than that, if you already have completed RCTycoon Deluxe and are hungry for more, this absolutely fills that hole. I almost forgot to mention you can add your own images for in game banners and your own ride music. Just as an aside, I have little experience in RCT3 since it never really clicked with me.

Parkitect is the spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon and it is FANTASTIC! I generally write a pros and cons list for each of the games I review, but I don't need to do it for Parkitect because I only have good things to say. This game is an absolute BANGER and I think it is better than any of the other theme park tycoon games. It's shocking how much it mirrors the OG RollerCoaster Tycoon and I personally think it's better than RCT 2 and 3. Let me give you a few reasons this game is for you. * The Controls, gameplay and even similar attractions to the RCT franchise make this game an easy transition * No overly complex micromanaging like every other theme park tycoon games * Roller coaster building is easy, again this something that seems to be overly complicated in other similar games * Tons of replay value, there is an option to download other people's created material including campaigns, maps and attractions * Expands on the OG RCT gameplay and makes it better * The $30 USD price tag is hands down worth it and if it were me, I believe the dev company Texel Raptor deserves the full price tag if you decide to purchase. It's that good of a game and certainly was a surprise to me once I finally loaded up the game and played it. I guess in order to be fair I will say a couple of negative things and they are not deal breaking just an annoyance. There is no undo button. How can this have possibly slipped the dev's minds? BUT once you get proficient with the controls it's not a huge deal. Also, the game starts to run like dog sh$t once you have close to 1000 visitors in your park. This certainly get's annoying at times. At the end of the day, if you enjoy tycoon games Parkitect HAS to go to the top of your buy list. I expect to get 100s of hours out this game, and I bet you will too. I need to borrow your thumbs for this one, because Parkitect deserves 4 thumbs up!

Absolute masterpiece of a modernized take on roller coaster tycoon. I loved playing RCT while growing up along with the management piece of the park. Tried Planet Coaster, it was good but didn't quite scratch that itch. I came across this game after scrounging around (didn't even know it existed) and it delivered. It's a shame I don't see greater awareness for this game. I would recommend 100 times over. Whether you like the business management side of the house, creating crazy but rideable coasters, or building creative pieces of art, this is the game for you.

AN ACTUAL SUCCESSOR TO ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON! Two kids and no life later, I am a bit late to the party, but this is an honest to goodness spiritual successor to the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. Very reminiscent of RCT2 but it just gets everything right. At first glance it feels a little clunky, it did take me a minute to get use to not having 3D view. But! Does it get the game-play right! The rides all feel very familiar, even the mechanics take me right back. It's not until you get into the decorations side of the game, you realise how far ahead of RCT2 this game is. The props are designed in a way where you can layer them to create insane combinations of things, design entire streetscapes piece by piece, change the fencing on your rides, add customer flooring, heck add prop flooring. Collide props into each other to create new shapes. Colour, re-colour, copy, paste and just go crazy as you get lost in the beautiful detail. If you loved RCT. Parkitect solves everything problem around the design, while keeping the charming gameplay you loved so much. BEST GAME I HAVE PLAYED IN A LONG TIME! 11/10

There are two modern games that bring back the Rollercoaster Tycoon spirit. both are great. easiest way to say what their differences are: Parkitect is a sequel to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, while Planet Coaster is a sequel to Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. PC is more about immersing yourself in the world of the park and really get into the nitty-gritty of like coaster building and such, while Parkitect has more of a focus on amusement parks as a whole, and puts particular emphasis on the background elements that are intended to be hidden from guests, as well as staff and money management.
