Apparently there's an R-18 patch? Life's been rough lately and I just wanted to play a game that let me be kind to someone who has a hard time living life the way people are expected to, and... it wasn't a long experience? But it was more than enough to earn a little smile from me. Sometimes? That's enough.
With this release I beat this game for a... 6th time? I played the Japanese version with every major update/DLC as it came out, but the version here (after patching) has that all included. When you get to the ending for the first time, an "Update" option appears in the upgrade menu which unlocks additional free content that was added to the original base game. On top of that, this version includes full voice acting for the girl, which was DLC for the original. I also just replayed the game some other times to try out certain things at different stages of progression. The game isn't too long, taking under 2 hours at a relaxed pace (as long as you're not spending too much time in the night scenes). In terms of "simulation", the game is pretty basic, but that means it's a smooth, frictionless experience to get from the start to having everything unlocked. The story and dialogue that occurs along the way is simple but enjoyable and heartwarming. I always come back to this game because I love the art style and the amount of options you have in the night scenes. This is one of the best among 2D games in the cohabitation genre, thanks to the amount of poses available and how each one has two camera angles, plus variants on each after the girl's sensitivity hits 100%. Of course, the art style is also just good, consistent, and clean. The game doesn't have any major flaws. It's a mostly stable and bug-free experience, aside from its menus acting a little funny if you click too erratically. As for content, I do wish there were more clothing options (you unlock only one alternate outfit throughout the whole game). I also wish there were more interactions with the girl while she's asleep... A certain monochrome game is more fleshed out in that regard. For its price, it's definitely a good time. Go ahead and raise a happy NEET and have a happy time.
this game plays out like inusuku's monochrome fantasy:living with sister, or to be more exact, that devs' other work which is not available on steam, imouto! life ~monochrome~, since it doesn't have fantasy elements. please note. there is 2 versions to this game. all age and 18+(patch required). all age version there is no adult content. the life lesson road map is family friendly. it's a heart-warming story about a guy living with a unwanted girl who has her heart closed off, slowly bringing her out of her box, to the courage to face the world. there is 5 phrase to each day. morning, noon, evening, night and late night. each phrase except late night, you can talk to her, work,take a break, go for walks or buy somethings. talk you can click on her to choose options to talk. casual conversations raise her affections. fiddle with smartphone will raise both affections and life lesson. deep talk will let you know more about her past and massively increase her life lesson points, depending on what you answer her. get closer lets you pet her head. work working depletes your health. how much depends on what you choose. there are 3 options for work. working a little, moderately or very hard. working a little uses the least of health at 10hp each time, earning you 800 yen and when working at night, this is the only available option. working moderately uses 20hp and earns 2000 yen. working a lot uses 45hp and takes up 2 turns, earning 5000 yen. both working moderately and a lot can't be chosen at night. break taking a break recovers a bit of your health. go out taking a walk increases your max health. go shopping allows you to visit the bookstore, supermarket and pharmacy. the bookstore sells books for increasing life lesson points if you want to throw money around or books to increase your money earned. supermarket sells food, which you can use for dinner every evening. pharmacy sells energy drinks to recover some health. after dinner, during evening or night, you can go bathe. either you go first or let shizuku go first. if you let her go first, her affections will increase. 18+ version(do not read this if you have no interest in this section) now, things change a lot. the core gameplay is still the same but more contents are added. a new meter, intimacy is added. talk there is now a new option, dirty talk. this increase intimacy. get closer becomes intimate and a new option s*x is added. shopping pharmacy added in condoms and aphrodisiac. a new shop, adult store is added and it sells s*x toys. life lesson all icons are changed and takes on new meanings. each icon you unlocked opens a new progression path with her s*xually. just because you unlocked it, doesn't mean you can do it immediately. you still have to work for it and ease her into it. bathe new option to bathe together, requires unlocking in life lesson. depending on what you unlock, has a lot of options. more than monochrome.(but no stealing underwear and peeking.) night can choose s*x. depends on what's unlocked in life lesson. will end the day after that. late night can do night raid on her while she is sleeping. again, what is allow depends on life lesson. conclusions whether you play it with the patch or not, this game can be fun for everyone. it's not every time i said this but i'm genuinely surprise at the price of this game. i thought it would be more expensive, given the quality of the game. this is a must buy for monochrome fans.
