This game is DUCKING AMAZING I'm having a blast. The gameplay, art, music and voice acting all slap hard imo. Also, I didn't expect the story to be all that but it's actually got me intrigued. In a world where live service games get shut down after the devs take all your money and bounce - these guys are a paragon of awesome - they made a dedicated offline mode and removed the in game microtransactions. In a decade, will you be able to play other live service games such as Destiny 2? Probably not. Will you be able to play Relic Hunters Legend? DUCK YEAH. There are a few minor QOL things that I would like to see out of Early access tho, perhaps a "claim all" button when claiming rebel rank feats rather than going into each chapter. Also maybe have other hunters equipment inventories be in a separate tab perhaps, and finally I would love to see on the world map what bosses are in each area when hovering over the area so I could target grind since the wiki's a bit empty atm. (edit - they added this! nice) Otherwise this game is great. If you're unsure whether to get it or not, I would say give it a try especially to support the kind of devs who actually make ethical decisions.

Playing the demo a couple years back and watching this game develop from the sidelines, Rogue Snail ditching their old publisher (Gearbox Publishing) and scrapping their previous Free-to-Play/Live-Service model for a Community-First approach via embracing a Buy-To-Play model was the BEST DECISION this studio could have made for the health of the game- an exceptionally rare epiphany to be had by a Studio, in this day and age of gaming which is WHY they deserve your support! Additional Reasons as-to Why Relic Hunters Legend is worth the asking price: 1. No Predatory Monetization - Buy-To-Play Model: No microtransactions, battle passes, or pay-to-win mechanics. - Cosmetics earned through gameplay: Fashion Credits are dropped by enemies and rewarded for missions—no real money needed. - This respects your time and wallet by offering a complete experience upfront. 2. Deep Customization & Replayability - Choose from 6 Hunters: each with unique abilities/playstyle and three separate skill trees to tailor your build, per Hunter. - Meaningful Gear Rolls: Getting "Add an additional projectile while shooting" and "Weapon Burst Size + 1" on a weapon (which enables burst fire) can turn your semi-auto pistol into a full-blown shotgun which feels wickedly gratifying! -Designed for loot-goblins and content-goblins: the game has a hefty amount of grind when it comes to re-rolling or upgrading your gear which'll keep you busy for a long while. I'm nearly 200 hours in (some of which is AFK (30-40 hrs)), and I'm ONLY roughly 66% of the way through the game, with 1 of the 3 End-game systems still untouched! (partially by choice). - Multiple End-game Systems to bounce yourself between: a set of rotating "Special Missions" from the campaign with juicy rewards and enhanced difficulty that refresh several times an hour, Path of Exile-styled "Maps" via "Treasure Maps," and a Special Dungeon, with a unique twist!, that refreshes its rewards and bosses every 3 days. - In-game Loot-Filter: that you can tweak on the fly, tailored to your looting preferences 3. Offline & Online Flexibility - Play offline solo or online co-op, the choice is yours. (no LAN support that I'm aware of though). 4. Vibrant/Engaging World & Family-Friendly - Hand-crafted world that's beautiful to explore. - The story follows a quirky cast of characters traveling the galaxy to uncover ancient relics, often with a light-hearted tone set for younger audiences that can still be easily enjoyed by adults. - No gore, sexual themes, or cursing is present in-game. Relic Hunter Legends is truly a hidden gem of a game that more then DESERVES a second chance and a skeptical/critical-thinking mind-set when looking at its "mixed" review status as Relic Hunter Legends is no longer the same game, completely changing monetization models in the process, that it was a few years back, plus the myriad of changes over those two years. Despite the time I've already sunk into the game, I have no intention of slowing down as there's still a lot of wood left for the fire to burn, best $15 twin-stick looter-shooter I've ever purchased. Edit: Apparently, I cannot count above 5, because there are 6 total Relic Hunters!!! Edit 2: Grammar and such

Based on about eight hours with the demo (mostly played with my partner), the cutesy kiddie-punk stylings here kind of obscure a decently meaty mix of top-down shooter and looter-ARPG in a game space that really hasn't quite matured yet. Its competitors pretty much all have some major failings, so if the failing here is style and a bit of jank (precision aiming needs to not be so camera spazzy), well, that's a heck of a lot better than poor action, a dead loot/upgrade system, or lame missions. I can put up with style. Seems to have quite a bit to offer, though it takes a while to unlock things (at least you can generally get a newly unlocked character right out of the bottom tier gear). Has a pretty generous demo, aside from putting up with its fairly painful story bits and voicing that's like enthusiastic knives in the ears (sadly lacks a separate volume for voices). The early access went through a lot, from the initial free-to-play online-only stand to the loss of their publisher and the current buy-to-play (no microtransactions), fully offline capable (and no servers required for co-op) version. Pay attention to the current state of the game when reading old information, because there's a lot of old information.

Pretty good game, Although there are still a few bugs here and there, I don't think the game really deserves the "Mixed" rating. Game has really good story line, half of it voice acted even Really good music and sound effects Pretty good and casual gameplay loop And an overall unique art style choice Yes the game is pretty much "Dead" because of having maybe 3 to 9 players daily, but you can complete the entire game, and enjoy everything it has to offer without ever going online There are a few personal issues I have with the game that others have mentioned - Being forced to play Story missions on singleplayer is a big one. - The game could really use an in game guide of where certain bosses spawn or where some materials are gathered from. - On the weapon/equipment modding system, your current applied mod shoudn't use an space on the 3 options it gives you, and should instead be a "cancel" button at the bottom, otherwise getting the right mod you want gets tedious since after the first one you only get 2 options to choose from. Besides that the game is pretty good at what it does, Yes it's very niche, but that doesn't make it a bad game
