I've only ever used it for Pokemon essentials but over 1000 hours later, my game has been fully completed. It does exactly what it says it will do. If you need help, find a tutorial for your specific type of game that you plan to build

Fantastic starter software for beginners looking into Game Dev/Game Design, especially if you're looking into traditional JRPGs, and the such. It's simple, and has limited customizability, but its really fun to toy around with for a thousand hours or so. Has some really cool additions that make the software even better. Also it was free for a while, and goes on sale for pretty cheap, which makes it even better. i might just maybe like it

Very awesome engine! I'm using it a lot to work on my projects, and it's quite intuitive. I recommend it, especially for those are wishing to create a Pokémon game of their own, like me. 🌟

This goes on sale ALL THE TIME so if you're looking to get into game development as a hobbyist or whatever for really cheap, definitely get it! This is how I started doing game dev nearly 20 years ago now and it's still a great option to this day. If you want something a bit more beefy I'd still recommend MV or MZ, but XP is fantastic as well and it does have its own certain charm to it, much like RPG Maker 2003 does. Also, as long as you buy the engine you can use its assets in anything else you want, so you may as well pick it up for those alone.

I've spent an egregious amount of hours on this out-dated game maker creating Pokemon games nobody will ever play. But it's still really fun to do.
