Akin to the point and click horror flash games of new grounds and armor games, this game recreates the nostalgia of having to click random stuff to find what you're looking for. lol PROS + Really eerie artstyle and the game's highlight. Made me stay because of how weird and unsettling everything is. + Game's story was really something: murder, mystery, and a bit of black magic. All happening in a very humble manor with a humble family. HIT OR MISS ? If you know flash horror games, you would know that there's charm in it as well as frustrations lol. While the game makes you think, it also has those stupid "click until something happens" segments since the game sometimes tells you nothing. ? While it is very "playable" in the deck, I don't recommend playing with it since there are segments that you need precision hold+move controls where your best bet is your mouse. CONS - No steam cloud saves integration. Played mostly on the deck and was disappointed I can't continue with my PC It's a blast from the past but isn't my cup of tea. It's not the Case of the Golden Idol but for the price, which in my case is 0.50 cents, it's a steal for a sale. Get it on sale but if you're really itching for a mysterious weird point and click adventure, go for it. It's really cheap even on full price. Giving it a recommendation and a 3/5 just for the price.

The game was pretty cool - if we admit that blood, cut-up organs and murders in family are cool. I liked following the creepy story of these people. It was weird, made feel uncomfortable af, but It was sort of.. fascinating. It's a shady point and click, with shady riddles. The music is really nice. It's a bit too long tho, by the end I just wanted it to be over. I recommend this lovely journey.

“Roots” is one of the games in the Rusty Lake series, a 2D point&click adventure expanding on the legend about the mysterious lake. This particular game follows the history of the Vanderboom family that is fatefully intertwined with the lake, and the pursuit for the elixir of life that is supposed to grant immortality to its imbiber. Game is split into smaller episodes arranged in a “family tree”, which focus on individual members of the family and important milestones, and your task will be to solve puzzles in each episode to push the story forward. Technically the game looks a lot like its “Rusty Lake Hotel” predecessor, with simple colored drawings and subtle, yet suggestive music. It’s also available at a good price and it’s an integral part of Rusty Lake franchise, so if you have played and liked any of the others, be sure to get this game too.
