Finally, a fighting game that respects the player's time. It strips away crazy mechanics and the need to memorize unnatural combinations that seem to require a controller with 23 buttons. Instead, it focuses purely on the fundamentals. The game is also gorgeous, boasting a wonderful art style and a fantastic soundtrack. It's the complete package. The fact that I can pick it up and put it down without losing my skills is a huge plus. Unlike a game like Street Fighter 6, where I feel like I need to re-learn the basics every time I play, this game lets you jump right back into the action.
PC port is wack and "game dead lmao" (you can get games on Discord consistently) BUT I love this game. One of my favourite fighting games, and the skill floor is super low so it's been a godsend for some friends who thing fighting games are cool but don't want to, say, study up on Blazblue mechanics. This is a game that will *very* much tell you "you messed up, so now you die." It's great. The game and its DLC also goes on killer sales from time to time, so you can wait for those if you're so inclined.
Great game to play with friends Unlike any other fighting game, Samsho does its own thing and does it well . With its dense atmosphere carried by a superior soundtrack and vivid sceneries, the game feels intuitive, read-based, with short combos or almost no combos at all, brutal damage evoking weapon combat, and the system allows for plenty of mindgames and cool outplay potential. The fight can go from deceptively slow-paced to lightning fast in a flash. The belated retrofitting of rollback netcode makes for a smooth online experience (though like in EVERY game, it's not gonna save poor network conditions). It's basically the perfect side game that respects your time and doesn't require ungodly amounts of practice. And yet there is depth to be found. NB: my playtime isn't accurate as i've played this game on other platforms too Iza! Jinjou ni... shoubu!
