Starts off as a fun if bit janky experience of sneaking about and freeing cats. I'd say by about 60%, the game started feeling a bit samey, gameplay wise. That said, Blendo has as always managed to make a quirky world which is fun to explore. The settings may be limited to mostly just space ships this time around, but each ship has its own function and personality, and in most there are entertaining notes left behind hinting at fun goings-on in these spaces. If you enjoy stealth. Have the patience to prowl around like a housecat, and have near-slapstick level "fights", as you try to neutralize an enemy without appropriate weaponry. I can recommend this as a fun experience. If, on the other hand, you want an action game, high fidelity graphics, super serious storytelling... yeah you would never even have started reading reviews for this game.

Have you ever thought "Boy, I wish Die Hard was set in space and had you rescue cats instead and that the terrorists were pirates?" Well if you have that very specific fantasy or if you just enjoy stealth/immersive sim games, you'll like this one.

This is a stealth game made entirely out of quirky Kojima-esque mechanics that'd give youtube video esseists a throbbing hard-on. Way too many cool ideas put into flesh, and way too polished, for a tiny dev team. A genuine effort to push stealth genre forward past stale AAA tropes. Every mission is bite-sized, highly replayable, has unique gimmicks and overall well put together. The only real downside is the game kinda ends right after it gets challenging. 2 more end game missions would make it a perfect score from me. Oh, and it's funny.

I bought this game on the high praise of the comments and reviews, but I think there's a lot of people really overselling this game. Its comparisons to immersive sims like Prey, Thief and Deus Ex might be accurate in some sense, but is also vastly overselling the premise and scope of this game. Its levels are tiny, its gameplay is not deep, and it doesn't have anywhere near the same degree of freedom of those games. Most levels can be completed in 20 minutes or less, there's no real sense of progression, and the goal is simple and the same for every mission-- extract a few cats from a space ship. There are no classes or builds to speak of in this game, it's primarily a simple stealth sandbox with each level trying to switch it up by introducing either a new gimmick or giving you a particular set of restrictions. This is all fine and dandy, but it's best to keep expectations tempered. It's not a bad game, but I personally didn't love it. It's probably a bit too shallow of a game for my preferences, but if you want a much more tight and condensed immersive sim experience that you can get through and drop quickly, it's an alright game to play around in. It had a few enjoyable moments with some of the minimal experimentation that this game allows. I suppose in some sense I've just been spoiled by games of this nature with far more depth. The other caveat is I think you also have to love the absurdism presented to really appreciate this game: the story and aesthetic is beyond ridiculous. I wasn't particularly invested in the narrative, nor did I really enjoy the attempts as humour. But it was serviceable? You might get more mileage out of it than I did. The only other complaint was the 60FPS frame-rate lock. While I do like the way the Doom 3 engine looks with its sharp shadows and interactive in-game HMIs, as well as its rock-solid stability, far too many developers don't really bother to unlock the game's inherit frame rate cap. This can at least be mitigated these days by frame generation tech, but this engine is so easy to run on modern hardware, it shouldn't be necessary.

I highly recommend this game. I'm surprised it's not more popular, but it's hard for even great games to get any attention these days, so I'm leaving a review. This falls roughly into the category of "immersive sim"; it's an FPS in which you have various tools at your disposal to complete a mission in a variety of ways. Unlike a large, open-ended world, this game is mission-based. Each mission consists of a spaceship with different rooms, multiple enemies, and multiple cats to rescue. It's probably obvious from the screenshots and trailers, but the tone is exceedingly goofy and bright, which is pretty appealing in a game where you may fail or make mistakes frequently. I didn't care about the story, but I wasn't bothered by it at all, and it probably helped to break up missions. In general, I thought the level design was great and pushed you to try different tools and methods to complete the mission, taking you out of any comfort zone you have found. There's a sense of accomplishment that comes from finishing each level. Additionally, the focus on individual spaceships rather than something larger and inter-connected like an open-world game meant it avoided some issues I have had with otherwise great immersive sims like Prey (2017) where there's substantial backtracking and filler content. In my current life, I can only play 1-2 hours a night at maximum, which nicely matched how long it took me to do a mission (I'm pretty slow and deliberate when playing games involving stealth). I was impressed with the multiple systems and behaviors that interacted with each other at various times. I suspect that anyone who enjoyed Dishonored, Prey, or their spiritual predecessors would really appreciate this. It's different from those games, but it has big ideas matched with tight design while retaining some of the tremendous satisfaction you get by pulling something off. A final note: it's nice that this runs on old PCs (like mine) while still looking nice due to the art style. I had one small technical issue which is that occasionally the framerate would suddenly drop from 60 to 30 FPS; alt-tabbing out and into the game immediately fixed the issue.
