Solargene is a hard science-fiction colony management simulator, focused on realistic orbital mechanics, astrophysics, and closed-loop life support systems. Unlike most space colony builders that abstract away scientific complexity, Solargene leans into simulation depth. It is less about cinematic spectacle and more about systems engineering in space. This is not a casual city-builder set among the stars. It is a technical sandbox that rewards players who enjoy logistics modeling, thermodynamics, and infrastructure optimization. The distinguishing feature is that everything operates within physically simulated orbital mechanics. Planets and stations move in real-time along accurate trajectories. Transfers between celestial bodies require planning using launch windows, delta-v budgets, and fuel efficiency calculations. These are not simple “resource bars.” Oxygen must be produced via electrolysis or plant-based life support. Water must be recycled. Waste management matters. Crops require lighting, water, and controlled atmospheric conditions. Heat accumulates and must be radiated into space. This makes the game feel closer to managing an ISS-scale habitat than running a sci-fi megacity. There is a strong emphasis on industrial realism. Steel production, fuel refinement, electronics manufacturing — all follow logical production chains. Automation becomes critical as your colonies expand. The logistics layer can feel daunting at first. Ships are not abstracted units; they have mass, fuel capacity, thrust-to-weight ratios, and engine performance characteristics. This transforms interplanetary trade into a strategic puzzle. Poor planning can result in stranded ships or failed missions. There are no cinematic cutscenes or elaborate animations. The emphasis is on clarity of simulation rather than aesthetic immersion. That said, watching your network of colonies operate across the Solar System — with ships moving between orbiting bodies — creates a quiet, systemic beauty. New players may find the early hours overwhelming. However, the systems are logically consistent. Once you understand the principles, the complexity becomes satisfying rather than frustrating. Solargene is a technically ambitious, intellectually demanding space colony simulator. It trades accessibility and cinematic flair for realism and systemic coherence. Its commitment to orbital physics and closed-loop life support makes it one of the more authentic depictions of space colonization in gaming. It is not universally appealing — but for the right audience, it offers a uniquely rigorous and rewarding experience. 8/10 DISASTER | BAD | MEDIOCRE | OKAY | GOOD | GREAT |AMAZING| MASTERPIECE Reviewed on: Win11 Home 64-bit, Intel i5-11600K, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB PRIME, 32GB DDR4-3600 RAM, 2 x Kingston NV1 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, Internet Broadband 1000/1000 Mbit If you like this review, then please consider giving it a thumbs up. so, this game has a TON of potential. great graphics, great concept, and a decent implementation. but the tutorial is really holding back its potential, but it is fun once you get the hang of things. well, first off... you might want to explain what an interlocutor is, as a game concept. it's not everyday language for most people. for a second... there's a concept called tell-show-do I would strongly encourage reading up on it. you have a LOT of potential here, but im thinking this is the first time perhaps that you've done a game like this yourself, and you're perhaps a bit too familiar with the mechanics to look at it as a first time user.

Wow I can't believe this game has been around since 2022. i stumbled across it searching for something else. it's easily my favorite now. it does have a learning curve but once you get the basics it's a great game. Tip don't think too small it takes a lot of people to run stuff well. Most impressive was i found a problem and almost rage quit when my not sick, not old colonists just died. sent the save and description of what happened in game to the developer and a patch rolled out the next day. i was expecting a "well you have mods from the workshop so you're up a creak".

It is an Awesome game. Very detailed, but once you get the hang of it its great. As an Early Access Game, it does need a proper tutorial on the mechanics. But this game is a hidden gem. If the game Surviving Mars (another awesome game) is Lego, this one is the same genre but comparable to Mechano. A more serious and detailed game compared to Surviving Mars.
