Honestly way more enjoyable than I expected. Although I feel the combat is a bit lacking given what I'm used to from games that focus on combat, I guess I am a little spoiled. That said, if you enjoy a bit of collecting with wholesome storytelling this is the game for you. :3
One of the down sides for me was the energy consumption and energy management. The consuption was high and I felt I had to garden and sleep alot which slowed the progression down. At times it turned my gameplay into 2/3 farming and cooking, 1/3 exploring. If I wanted to spend less time gardening/cooking, I could, but only at the cost of not collectng/interacting and jogging everywhere, which was slow and not fun for me. I would recommend the game but only on special or if you're someone who does not mind the heavy management.
I thought this game was okay. Very nice graphics, but the way the character moved looked wonky, and she was so slow. I sparingly used the run to save on energy. Nothing in the game was difficult. You could get closer to the crew and get an expansion for your garden, but why? I kept the same tiny garden and didn't run out of ingredients. I hardly ever made soup and still did fine on energy. The game is super short, but I purchased it on deep discount. The combat was easy. I didn't mind that. A tiny bit of tension is all I want. But it still felt a bit unimaginative. There was no reason to decorate anyone's cabin really. I thought about crafting more than a bed and chair, but I didn't. Some crew members didn't get anything. I didn't get around to making them a bed and before I made up my mind about it we were sailing away and the end credits were scrolling.
Stranded Sails feels a little bit like you’re riding with training wheels on the whole game, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. Sometimes you just want a list of objectives and a little extra guidance on how to knock them out. Farming, exploring, resource collecting and cooking are the things you’ll be doing the most of, all of which I found pretty fun to do. The cooking recipe discovery mini game left me wanting to strangle a few of the islander crew, but the frustration is short lived. Eventually it all starts to feel like one giant puzzle: if I do this, this will unlock this, and if I do that, I can do this more efficiently and feel less inclined to strangle all the islander crew members. The sense of satisfaction is there for sure. The music is quite pleasant as well. It gets off to a bit of a slow start, but once the engine starts to rev up, I found myself willingly clocking in every day to see where this game went.
