An absolutely lovely FMV game. I can confidently say that this game has the best story and storytelling in the genre. What I like: - Lovely story and well presented storytelling. - Little to no pesky fan service along the gameplay. - No nonsense story. The overall storyline is closer to romance + slice of life without overly 'made up' arcs. What could be improved: - Apparently, the interfaces haven't been fully translated into English. Especially when interacting with the smartphone. In case it is needed: the solution to the Zoey's maze scene is explicitly given by the police officer. You just have to understand Chinese. LRRSLS.

Such a Guy isn’t some instant-noodle product or a sci-fi movie where dreams are easily achieved. “There’s Such a Guy” is more than just a “love game”; it’s a letter to modern people — a story about choices, friendship, and growing up. 🕒 Playtime: About 7 hours for a complete route. Gameplay The story follows the main character and two friends chasing their startup dream — building a cozy seaside B&B. The game has 9 chapters, with the main gameplay revolving around choices and exploration as you build your B&B and develop relationships with 6 heroines. You’ll receive “wishes,” which can be exchanged for gifts linked to each girl. Aside from the main storyline, there are also small side journeys that let you understand each heroine more deeply. Story A slow-paced narrative that gently builds relationships with six female characters, revealing their personalities and lives over time. The main plot explores ordinary life issues and the authentic experience of building a life — and relationships — together. The developers know how to charm players through subtle, detailed storytelling, complemented by beautiful artwork and a heartfelt soundtrack that gives each heroine her own color and atmosphere. And along the way, the journey of building dreams with your friends feels almost like catching a reflection of your own life. The Six Heroines 🌊 Layla Jiang — Tour Guide / Surf Coach A lively, energetic girl whose enthusiasm is contagious. Once you grow close, she becomes a huge help in developing your B&B. She supports you wholeheartedly — even with her own injury (a back problem) — and brings in guests when you’re just starting out. Who could say no to a girl willing to struggle beside you through thick and thin? Her story is tied to the ocean, waves, and outdoor adventures — hiking, trekking, surfing. 🍷 Ki Gan (Gan Qi) — Bar Owner Mature, confident, reliable — the “big sister” type who can also be your business mentor. With her strong financial foundation, she can back you up if you ever decide to “take it easy.” Without her, your business dream might not even take off. Her story revolves around wine, nightlife, and entrepreneurship. (I won’t go too deep here — not really my type, haha.) 🎨 Minaxu (Xu Manman) — Designer Gentle and thoughtful, an introverted yet successful designer. Her story begins when you ask her to repaint the main artwork for your B&B after a scammy feng shui “master” ruins it. As your bond grows, you help her recover from work-related stress and insomnia. She slowly opens up to you. A future with her is peaceful — a wooden seaside home, starlit floors, moonlight, a fish tank… two people growing old together. Who wouldn’t want such a soulmate — calm, artistic, and sincere? 🎤 Zoey (Zuo Yi) — Resident Singer (my favorite) As the game says, she’s free-spirited, strong-willed, and bold. At first, she may seem too blunt or overly expressive — but with time, you’ll see her passion for music, her fiery energy, and her dedication to her dream. I’ll never forget the birthday night when the protagonist celebrated with her — and she sang just for you. Who could say no to a girl willing to follow you to the ends of the earth, or sell her most treasured item just to help you? Her story sings with music, emotion, and freedom. 🪸 Ivy Wong (Wang Yutong) — Marine Biology Student I’m honestly torn between Ivy and Joey. Ivy is an introverted girl passionate about marine life and the ocean. As a marine biologist, her aquarium becomes one of the highlights of your B&B. She’s shy and doesn’t want you to see her as a child. She’s willing to grow, to change, just to be closer to you. Her affection isn’t loud like Zoey’s or Layla’s — but it’s there, in every gesture and word, quietly healing your heart. I’ll never forget the image of her laying down glowing pebbles along a path, lighting the way with “wish lamps” to comfort the protagonist. Who could refuse such gentle, genuine love? She only hopes you’ll remember her, even if you part ways one day. 🌍 Erica Luo (Luo Yueke) — Travel Blogger Whimsical and energetic — a confident, creative travel blogger. Her personality can seem sharp at first — always standing up for herself and her ideals. Maybe I just didn’t click with her, so I don’t have much to add. But I’ll admit, the image of her traveling and writing blogs with you was memorable. Who could say no to a girl who uses her career and talent to support you completely, even if it means putting her own dreams aside? Graphics & Sound You can relax knowing the visuals are top-tier: 4K HD scenes, over 1000 minutes of content, like a cinematic seaside journey. Every angle, every shot — pure vacation vibes. The girls might not look as flashy as in other games, but to me, they’re perfect — expressive, authentic, and memorable. The illustrations and cute icons bring each character to life. The soundtrack — a mix of ambient, instrumental, and lyrical pieces — fits perfectly with every scene and emotion. I’ll definitely dig deeper into the songs tied to each heroine later. Final Thoughts If you’re looking for a game that heals, this is the one. For me, Such a Guy feels like a cup of deep, quiet coffee — something to savor and reflect on. I plan to finish 100% of each heroine’s story — and if you’re interested, feel free to check out my Yt channel. To me, this is easily one of the most memorable and heartfelt games of the year — and maybe of many years to come.

The FMV romance genre has made big strides over the last year, but no game showcases its potential better than Such a Guy. It was built with incredible attention to detail, featuring six great love interests, incredible variety, high energy, and many laughs. You play as Zane Zheng and open a guesthouse on the coast with two male friends. But finding people to stay in it will take effort and outside help. After a serendipitous rainy night, six women begin to orbit the guesthouse, which lets you build a connection. All six love interests are fantastic. Your landlady, Ki, likes to drink but helps where she can. The previous guesthouse resident, Zoey, plays the guitar and appears hostile, but has a kind heart. A cheerful and energetic local surf instructor, Layla, wants to help by bringing more tourists. The talented artist, Mina, is having a creative block but you can help each other. A young marine researcher, Ivy, tries to keep your spirits high. And a travel blogger, Erica, wants you as her slave before she’ll remove a negative video. The game provides time to learn about characters before the romance shifts into full gear, which makes it a fantastic slow burn. Some keep their feelings hidden, others are directly friendly, and a few are pure romantics. The game keeps the mood light and breezy, like a real joyful adventure. Some of the dialogue is hilarious too, depending on player choices. It offers insane variety. You will visit many places around the coast, like mountain paths, shopping centres, a bar, beaches, and a water park. It swaps both the location and love interest rapidly, which is a strength but can also produce whiplash. One part with Zoey involved warehouse exploration, hiding from a guard, and searching for items. It is one of the few times where you stick to someone for long enough and the game would have benefitted from more of this. This nitpick is just as much about wanting to spend more time with characters as it is about the game jumping around. Based on affection levels, you unlock natural encounters between chapters. These are awesome and help build affection. They are not on the normal timeline so if you want to do things differently (or pick another), it requires manually navigating back to a previous chapter. Endings and the phone also lock navigation progress, which is a bit annoying when replaying. Such a Guy offers a mammoth amount of content at a high standard. It takes 7 hours to run through first and around 20 to see everything. There are several endings per love interests, including some regretful ones, but a few are a bit short. The game is nearly all live audio and the 4k videos look great. Unfortunately the game crashed quite a lot for me when replaying it. That said, if you only play a few games in the genre per year then Such a Guy should be one of them.

Things I Like about this FMV: - OST - The Story - The Comedy - The Romance - The sceneries - The Mini-Games - No Fanservice This FMV is so worthy for its price. I purchased this game on the same day it released. And I never regretted playing it. It's soo fun. And yes, there will be cameo from Love Is All Around Characters . And also, I chose Zoey. This is probably my most favorite FMV games of all time.
