If you ever wished you could just freeze time on a late August afternoon, where the only thing that matters is the way the sun sparkles through the leaves of a tree, SUMMERHOUSE is your way to go. The gameplay is based on pure relaxation. No rules, no timers, no "wrong" ways to build. You simply pick from a variety of beautifully crafted blocks like windows, doors, plants, or little street details to create small cozy houses or natural sceneries in different landscapes from seaside to mountains to suburbs . SUMMERHOUSE is all about the vibe. The way a bicycle leans against a wall, a cat peacefully sleeps on a windowsill, or washed laundry flutters above a mediterranean house roof. It's a wholesome experience that entertained me with nothing less than the beauty of being creative. SUMMERHOUSE is a little masterpiece in minimalistic cozy builders. The game lets you build houses in 3 or 4 different locations, all while unlocking more and more residents through combining specific building pieces. It's deeply relaxing and beautiful and has a peaceful soundtrack. The art style works very well with the atmosphere. Some achievements were a bit buggy when I played it, but to me this did not matter. It's a nice, very small snack game that will only gift you a handful of tranquil hours. Keep this in mind, but it's a good way to quiet your head a bit. I loved my short time with it.
When I was looking for a fresh breeze during the summer, I came across this little game where you can build a small house. It's not just placing brick by brick; it also offers unlockables when placing the right items next to each other. So, while building, once in a while, a small surprise might pop up, and you have cute birds or people around your built space, which you can then use to place them wherever you want. For creative people, it probably offers a decent amount of items and options to build, but I think there could be a bit more to it. All in all, a good way to relax and enjoy your own created spot.
I think bob ross would like this game. It is as simple as it is elegant. All for a cup of coffee. Well done. Edit: After a few hours of playing I'm still having a nice time. The town building is meditative and pleasant. My only critique is that the depth mechanic seems pretty janky at times. There are situations where i try to build an addition story to a building, but i need to build behind the established "foreground" to do it, but the piece i want isn't "allowed" to be put there at that depth. It's not a big deal per say, but its noticeable enough to have caused me frustration. Not changing the review as i still recommend it, but if that could be addressed in a future patch id appreciate it.
summerhouse is truly a charming game. it's a very simple and small sandbox game where you build houses from matching different parts of the structure. it's relaxing and surprisingly fun, and i always see myself coming back to it from time to time. it's one of those games you decide to play when you're staring at your desktop, wanting to do something but also do little to nothing. unlocking the special blocks is rewarding, the music is relaxing, the visuals are pretty and you have creative freedom to create buildings however you'd like! i only wish there was a bit more to do, or more interactions like the special blocks. still, i really recommend this one if this is the type of game you like, but maybe try getting it on sale!
