fantastic game except for when you have something to be doing. Meant to run errands and instead played for 9 straight hours. 10/10

I would highly recommend this game if you like Cloud Garden. The gameplay is very similar, but instead of upgrading plants you are upgrading buildings. It is relaxed, there are no time limits. There is some environmental story telling as well. The game just released and could use a few updates. I have a couple achievements that won't unlock. Some buildings disappeared when revisiting a map. The camera can act a little wonky sometimes. For the price I still think this game is worth picking up. I'm sure the bugs will get fixed in an update.

After logging about 40h in the demo, I was physically sitting at my PC waiting for the game to drop -- after another few hours playing: I can confidently say this is a thoroughly enjoyable, thoroughly casual, thoroughly charming game. The mechanics of setting down buildings, economising on space, and maximising utility are all engaging enough with regards to reaching goals, while also giving you lots of freedom to build to your own preference and specifications. The challenges themselves are largely fairly easy, but a handful of them can be tricky if you're not paying attention -- and while they are judiciously scattered among more attainable ones, the rewards system for completing them is satisfactory, especially for those who will be exploring the Creative Build Mode. I'd say a complete run-through of the challenge mode would take around 11/12 hours if you're playing fairly casually. The creative mode in and of itself has a lot of scope for creativity, which is essential after the reasonably short challenge mode. That said, re-running the locations in challenge mode also provides scope to do it differently the second or third time around -- with an added bonus of giving you the option to switch into creative mode to keep building to your heart's content. The style and look of the game is charming, and compliments the gameplay excellently -- the marriage of grungy disrepair and ornate beauty is excellently realised through tin shacks and stucco homes, potted plants and neon signs, brutalist pipes and marshy swamplands, all side-by-side. The game is really beautiful, especially if you enjoy that kind of urban-sprawl-squeezed-into-a-nook aesthetic - without needing to be ultra-realistic, as it embraces its indie art style whole-heartedly. The narrative is extremely light, but not absent. There's just enough to contextualise and frame the game, without the burden of needing to carry any great story, but it is there, especially if you take a closer look at the game's map... The setting very much builds the story, and that's kinda perfect for this kind of game -- but there is just enough narrative to flesh the world out, which adds a nice extra layer. It runs nicely, with only a few little skips here and there, but there are enough of the usual sliders and settings you'd expect from a game to beef up the visuals or tone them down to suit your needs and circumstances. If you like chill building without the faff of exact perfectionism, a gentle but engaging challenge, and the gruff but gorgeous shanty town vibe -- I can't recommend this game enough.

I stumbled across this game’s demo during NextFest and ended up spending 10–15 hours in it alone, so it’s safe to say I’ve been very excited for the full release. It’s such a charming blend of cozy design and light puzzle-solving. Planning your layout has just enough strategy to keep things interesting, especially when you’re trying to keep your residents happy. Thankfully, they’re not too demanding.. Just give them some decor, a bit of light, and a few helpful services (honestly, same) and they’ll reward you with a new piece to decorate with. If you enjoy creating snug, cozy spaces, this game is an absolute delight. Whether you’re designing stacks of shanties by the water, or building tiny, peaceful shrines, there’s always something new to tinker with or even redesign from scratch (this is why I haven't left the first level).

I'm in love with this game. Only a few hours in but the mix of puzzle aspects with a dense urban city builder is just up my alley. There was a REASON I checked steam every day waiting for release. This game slaps
