Why you should or should not play Small Spaces Before You Read Every review on my profile is based on my own personal experience with a game. My opinions aren't facts, and you're not expected to agree with them—and that's perfectly okay. My goal isn't to tell you whether you should like a game. Instead, I try to explain what worked for me, what didn't, and who I think the game might appeal to. Constructive discussion is always welcome, but please remember there's a real person behind these reviews. Respectful disagreements are encouraged; insults, hostility, or personal attacks are not. What is Small Spaces? In this game, you are an interior designer of sorts! Your job is to unpack and decorate multiple styles of homes. Quick Pros ✔ High replay ability ✔ Lots of content to explore ✔ Long playtime potential ✔ Frequent updates from developers ✔ Beautiful environments ✔ Strong visual style ✔ Detailed world design Quick Cons ✘ The space outside of the building feels very plain Initial Thoughts: -"Okay I am getting the hang of this, I wish I had more items though." -"ARE YOU KIDDING ME I CAN ADD MORE OR DELETE ITEMS?" -"Are we serious- I can recolour them to? God who's dream am I living cause this must not be real." Beginner Player Friendly? Yes, I would argue this game is beginner players friendly. There is a straight forward tutorial and the controls are always listed on parts of your screen or as you hover over objects. Once you get the hang of things it is very easy to understand what is going on! Game Play: In this game your goal is to decorate many different styles of apartments, houses and more! There are a few different game styles to try out and well over at least 50 levels that I have seen so far. Decorate, recolour, resize, add, destroy and just decorate to your hearts content. Graphics: The graphics are more realistic and are very pretty. The environment itself inside the apartment becomes nice as you decorate, however the environment outside could use some sort of colour. I wonder if we could even make it rain ourselves or just import something to give it a little more of a 'wow' factor. Community: This community is fairly new, however, everyone seems very creative and guides have already been made on the steam forums regarding different tips and tricks that this game has to offer. I am sure if you have any questions someone here would be willing to assist you. How long can you play? So far I have only played a half hour of this game, (as I bought a lot of games bulk from the steam sale), and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am one of those people who wished unpacking had more levels and this game is giving off a more realistic unpacking with a few more added features. I can picture myself spending quite a bit more time in this game just decorating and enjoying what this developer has created. My Opinion: In my opinion, if you were someone who misses unpacking and wish there was more to that game maybe you should give this game a try. As its got way more added features and you still get to unpack different things and decorate to your hearts content. I cannot wait to see the direction that this developer decides to take with this game. The gaming mechanics was easy to use as i played sims 4 before and uses the same sims 3 camera like that but i had to keep reminding myself that this is early access because there's alot of things that limit this game to the full potential. More things like: - better colours for furniture / wallpapers - eyedropper tool to make it easier to copy colours - more furniture options like curtains and such. These are a few things that could help elevate a players personally experience. Some negatives i'm experience in the game is: - it can be laggy sometimes despite my pc being really high quality - some mechanics are super jittery and hard to use at most times as it won't allow the player to do anything - i had to turn off the music as it was too repetitive and kept to the same song. Maybe adding more songs/vibes to help make it more soothing for the player (?) I really enjoyed and finished the decorating and unpacking of this game and cannot wait for the full release and hope to see some improvements :)

This is a fantasy game set in an alternate reality where you can work with art and music while renting (or owning??) a beautiful place in a cool big city. Where up to 1033 sqft / 96 sqm is "small". There are large windows on 2+ sides with no buildings around that would steal your sunlight. Your budget is unlimited. Plumbing is not an issue. You can just go ahead and add new walls or a loft. Can't fit your favorite piece of furniture? Just make it smaller, or merge it into the wall or other things. You wish the whole place had brick walls, or wooden ones? Done! Nevermind that my landlord doesn't even want me to put up a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shelf, I can live out my housing dreams in this game now! I was pleasantly surprised by the little story snippets describing the people who live in each place. Not that you have to care. You could just dump the few things they ask for to collect the stars for new furniture and features, then do whatever you like. But I actually loved considering their preferences and treating it almost like a literal roleplay game. What's this person's style, and maybe even budget? Do they watch TV and maybe game from a sofa or bed, or do they rather sit at a desk with a PC? Do they need a stool to reach the higher cupboards? Where do they drop their keys and phone? You don't even have to decide between designing for those characters and your own ideas. I don't know if there are limited save slots, but you can have several versions of each place. I've had tons of fun coming up with different scenarios. For those who need more guidance, there's an Unpacking Mode which I haven't played much. A very nice touch, though not very developed at this point, is the option to walk through your places in first person mode. AND to share places and explore other people's creations! There's a good selection of furniture and a more limited selection of decorations already, with more on the way. Trying to go for precise positions or placement tricks can be fiddly, but improvements are planned. There's about the amount of bugs that I'd expect a couple of months into EA, mostly related to colors and textures. It's still pretty badly optimised. I have a long wishlist, but high hopes for the future of this game. So far, the solo dev has an impressive track record of sticking to his roadmap or even delivering before the planned date. Note that most people don't spend nearly as much time in this game as I have. I'm just on my little power trip of creating all kinds of nice places, walking through them, finding things to improve here and there... I've also been idling a lot. Anyway, I've got my money's worth several times over already, and I'm not done!
