Tears of Metal This game has a ton of personality. Pros: [*]Unique art style that immediately stands out from other roguelites. [*]Runs incredibly well—even when the battlefield is packed with enemies. [*]Fairly priced for what's currently on offer. [*]Combat feels impactful with the combos. Cons: [*]Like many roguelites, the gameplay loop starts feeling repetitive after enough runs. [*]Being in Early Access, content is still fairly limited. [*]Bosses feel like damage sponges. Even when you execute your rotations correctly and avoid mechanics, fights can drag on for 10+ minutes. [*]Long boss fights start feeling like endurance tests rather than exciting encounters. Summary: There's a really solid foundation here. The visuals are memorable, performance is excellent, and the combat has that satisfying "one more run" feeling every good roguelite should have. The biggest thing I'd love to see changed is boss health. Winning because you mastered the fight feels great—winning because you spent ten minutes slowly chipping away at an oversized health bar doesn't. Trim those fights down a bit.
This is such a bizarrely fun game. It blends the massive battles of Dynasty Warriors, touches of Mount & Blade’s combat, and the addictive progression of Risk of Rain, then piles on upgradable armies, parrying, synergies, ridiculous builds, and completely unhinged combos. There’s so much happening that I can’t even begin to list it all. Absolutely Chad release even for EA. I bought it yesterday and somehow dumped five hours into it without realizing where the time went. After spending years with Warframe and finally nearing the end of that grind, I’ve been desperate for another game that scratches the same itch. Somehow, this does it, in the weirdest and most unexpected way possible. I love roguelikes that trap me in the “okay, one more run” cycle, and this absolutely has that quality. It’s already up there with Megabonk for me, and I’m pushing nearly 200 hours in that game. I’m a complete sucker for this kind of experience. This deserves far more praise and attention. I desperately hope the developer continues expanding this format because it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible. I would gladly pay for DLC in the future. Insanely fun, surprisingly deep, endlessly grindy, exactly my kind of game, echoing statements of middle of the run saves, that would be the best fix ever. So far, minimal bugs, maximum fun, amazing job. Keep it up dude. Hella recommend.
Put ~100 hours into the private playtest before release. Which means I can confidently say: this game is incredibly special. The theme is amazing. The soundtrack elevates the theme to insane heights. Dynasty Warriors but in scotland is just a slam-dunk. There's so much meat on this game even in this initial early access stage. 3 heroes who each have multiple equipment pieces (including multiple weapons per hero, which completely change their movesets, like turning the parry-heavy Wallace into a dodge-focused character). An ascension difficulty system. A metric ton of items, both baseline and unlockable. Different captains and companions to recruit and help buildcraft before you even start a run. And, most importantly, the game is just fun. The hero movesets are simple enough (at least on base weapons, some weapons do get tricky lol) that you don't have to constantly go back to the pause menu to look at your combo list, but complex enough that you feel like you have multiple responses to different types of enemies at every point. Objectives and maps are incredibly varied, and even repeating the same map with different Clan builds, different weapons, different objectives, etc ends up staying fresh and exciting. Overall, this game is one of the easiest recommendations I've ever made, even at this initial release. And It's only going to get better as time goes on. Buy it NOW
