🔥👻 STEAM REVIEW: THE BUNKER Written by Malaysian Aunty While Being Partially Possessed by Pontianak EEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHH— cough Sorry ah. Spirit warming up. Come come sit. Aunty now half human, half pontianak. Voice echo already. Let me tell you about this game. First of all… THIS GAME VERY QUIET. Too quiet. Pontianak don’t like quiet. Quiet means something wrong. Usually when place quiet like this, either got ghost, or your WiFi mati. You play as John. Poor boy. Born in bunker. Grow in bunker. Never see sun. Never touch grass. Only see rust, pipe, corridor. Aiyo John. You not survivor. You indoor plant. Everyday same routine: Wake up. Check machine. Eat tin food. Listen announcement. Pontianak watching: “Boy… this not bunker… this depression storage facility.” Then suddenly system rosak. Alarm go WEEEE WOOOO Memory come back. Trauma spill everywhere like Milo powder. Now John start panicking. You must walk around clicking things while he hyperventilate like asthmatic hamster. Pontianak already floating beside screen: “Why you breathing like that ah?” 👻 HORROR LEVEL (Pontianak Approved?) Supposed to be horror right? Pontianak rating: 2/10 scare 8/10 awkward silence No chase. No monster. No screaming. Just corridor. Long corridor. Another corridor. Metal corridor. Rust corridor. Pontianak fly faster than John walk. Even ghost impatient. 🎭 ACTING (Possessed Auntie Commentary) Got Christopher Lee. Very famous. But some scenes ah… Like student filming project at abandoned carpark. John sometimes emotional. Sometimes stiff. Some side characters appear, talk 5 minutes, then vanish forever. Like spirits during Hungry Ghost Festival. Show face. Take offering. Gone. 🖱 GAMEPLAY (Pontianak Become Electrician) Gameplay: Click fuse. Install fuse. Click door. Open door. Repeat until afterlife. Pontianak already got certificate in electrical engineering. If bunker still got problem, call me. 👁 ATMOSPHERE (Haunted IKEA) Everything grey. Everything metal. Everything sad. Like IKEA showroom curated by depression demon. Pontianak walk inside: “Wah… feng shui also bad.” No plants. No windows. Only trauma. 🧠 STORY (Sad Boy + Memory Buffet) Story actually not bad. Got mystery. Got childhood trauma. Got secrets. But presentation slow. Very slow. Memory reveal one by one like old uncle telling war story. Pontianak halfway already go sharpen nails. ⏳ PACING (Slower Than Spirit Possession) John walking speed: 0.5 km/h. Pontianak possession speed: INSTANT. Aunty leave chair, come back, John still at same corridor. Boy ah. Even ghost can’t wait. 👍 GOOD THINGS (Pontianak Being Fair) Okay lah: ✔ Unique concept ✔ Live-action interesting ✔ Some tense moments ✔ Story has depth ✔ Short game This game not rubbish. Just… very British. Even horror also queue. 👎 BAD THINGS (Spirit Speaking Truth) ❌ Gameplay shallow ❌ Too slow ❌ Low replay ❌ Horror inconsistent ❌ Choices barely matter You think your decisions important. End also same. Like choosing ayam or ikan. Both also RM12. ⭐ FINAL POSSESSED AUNTIE RATING Pontianak gives: 6 / 10 screaming souls Or in Malaysian scale: 🌶 Sambal mild 🍚 Rice cold 👻 Ghost bored 👵 Aunty tired Meaning: Okay once. Not again. 🪦 FINAL VERDICT (Pontianak Leaving Body) The Bunker is not bad. It’s like haunted museum tour. You walk. You look. You listen. You leave. Worth buying on SALE. Play once. Finish. Uninstall. Go makan. Pontianak approve for rainy evening. Not for adrenaline junkies. EEEEEEEEHHHH— body shake cough Okay spirit gone. Aunty back.

Cool FMV game with light horror vibes. The atmosphere is the main draw here since there's not much action. One scene though has a surprising amount of blood and gore with close-up shots and I was surprised there was no indication of it in the screenshots or any content warnings on the page. The acting is solid and the story has a nice twist near the end. Unlike some FMV games with a lot of branching and different endings, this one is mainly point and click along with some QTEs. You only get a choice at the very end, which leads you to one of two endings. One thing to note is that there is no skip function. This isn't a problem if you want to see both endings since you can just continue from the last checkpoint after getting your first ending. But if you're aiming to get all achievements, you'll either need to follow a guide from the beginning, or do a second playthrough and sit through all the scenes again.

I can understand both the negative and positive reviews. Overall, I rate it as positive. However, only just, and not without some doubts. This is also thanks to the low price I paid (FMV Horror Bundle in the Steam Winter Sale). The gameplay is worse than other FMV games I've played so far. It's super linear and there aren't any big decisions that influence the plot, as in similar games. The overall plot, setting, sound, and actors are really not bad. However, a lot of potential was wasted, and I think the developers know that too – but we mustn't forget that this was probably due to the budget. The controls are simple. Just click. The game is simple. Just click and read/listen/watch. The hardest part is getting all the achievements if you're as stupid as I am, because then you have to replay the game. I missed a few collectibles....you really don't want to play it again. Once is enough. The most dramatic aspect is that the protagonist's maturation process has been stunted by life in the bunker. An anxious adult child – but that's no surprise. Another revelation is surprising, but I don't want to spoil it. The game is not scary and, in my opinion, has no horror elements at all. But it is exciting, dramatic, and also surprising. One thing is clear: I would rather die in the bunker than survive there alone. Would I recommend it? Yes, but only with reservations and only for people who enjoy games like this. No, for everyone else, because you could be very disappointed (see other reviews). If anyone is interested, I would only buy it at a heavily discounted price or as part of a bundle. Because for the full price, it offers far too little, which is a shame. In my case, I don't regret it because I knew what I was getting myself into beforehand. I also want to support the developer a little.

Short FMV game in apocalyptic styling, simple walking simulator, there are some choices, but mainly only ending-related choice means something. Overall, I liked it, story is interesting, but with it being a pretty short game I recommend to buy Bunker on some sale.

A game for a couple of hours, a funny atmosphere with horror elements, professional acting and a high-quality soundtrack.
