Game is super fun so far. Pros: - Combat is awesome. Starts off a little simple, I think the first map takes slightly too long but holy smokes the combat gets so good as the game gets going. - Skill tree and upgrade progression systems are well done - Feel super satisfying when you parry/dodge. Parrying/dodging/dashing through enemy attacks can all trigger an incredible counterattack (probably what you see in the trailer) - Exploring is fun. Because of the upgrade system, exploring the map felt rewarding. - Level visuals look nice. - Runs smoothly on the steamdeck Cons: - Voice acting is a bit meh. - Towards the end, the game tries to focus more on platforming which is NOT this game's strong point and makes completing the game tedious.

I’m not a fan of metroidvania nor 2D platforming game. But i enjoy couple first of hours of this game offering, thus i might keep playing until 100% completion. I like the ā€œsouls-likeā€ / rpg feature like bonfire and skill tree. It gives you sense of progression and character development while simultaneously making your gameplay more fun. But at current state, i think more refinement could be made to make the experience more enjoyable in future updates: [*] Enemy re-spawn when you go back to latest bonfire, not even interacting with it. This is not fun. Because there are situations that force you to go back without intention (i.e sliding down or opening shortcut), and we have to kill again just to explore. Enemies should only re-spawn when we REST. That’s how any other game (i have played) with some kind of ā€œbonfireā€ mechanism works. [*] Animation sometimes stuck when attacking towards enemies. My AP was full, i was not exhausted. I simply move forward while attacking. When my character get too close, it just stand still and couldn’t attack. I need to move further to attack. This is ruining the flow. [*] Parry timing is not clear. There is a flashing red indicator on enemies when they are going to attack. But it’s really hard to tell should you press slightly before, precisely at, or slightly after the red flash. Because in 2D space, especially with multiple enemies sometimes they are standing too close to each other and you just can’t see. Hence in traditional 3rd person action game, we can see the enemy animations from different directions so we can easily counteract the attack either with parry or dodge. [*] Heavy attack can’t be assigned to controller’s Right Trigger. Please give us freedom to bind any button to our controller. Light attack with RB, heavy attack with RT are ā€œsouls-likeā€ default. Of course with steam input (or in my case ROG Armory Crate) button mapping could be done easily. But this creates more problems because in-game hints overlays don’t match with buttons we pressed.

This game is an amazing experience. Action platforming, parry heavy soulslike combat, fun and rewarding battle mechanics, huge skill tree... The list goes on. I was obsessed with this game during Early Access and now I've fallen back in love all over again. Well crafted and just SO much fun to play!

Review After 100% Achievements This is a super cool game that really hooked me with its combat! This title is still in early access, but gameplay feels smooth and I ran into no performance issues even while doing my second playthrough on my Steam Deck. The trait upgrading system is unique and worked really well. Level up using souls’ currency and receive orbs that you can place into traits that interest you. Cannot wait to see how it is expanded on in future updates and see what content is added to the game in the future. As you get further in your exploration, you unlock new traversal abilities that you can use to maneuver through the map. Platforming feels rewarding once you master it, so you can zip through areas to backtrack or loop around the map. As of right now, there is not a ā€œfullā€ map, rather the game splits the areas up into three separate maps for the three areas in the game. The only problem I ran into was that there is not a fast travel option to go back to previous areas, which in turn made me do another playthrough to obtain the cleanup achievements. My first playthrough where I took my time was around 5.5 hours of gameplay. My second was around 2.5 hours and that is with me flying around the map only looking for the map fragments called ā€œhaetaeā€. The parry mechanic is cool, and the bosses were not hard once you learn their patterns. Last boss gave me the most trouble!
