Only a few hours in, but I can already say that this is my favorite incremental idler game I've played, out of maybe 7 or 8 games. Everything you do in the game is reflected in the actual visual, instead of just a progress bar with an absurdly large number to trick you into feeling like you've done something. The Gnorps are fun to watch, and it really feels like you are helping mastermind some whacky excavation project. So much more satisfying than I thought it would be, and easily worth the time and money. It's also clear that the Devs care about the overall experience of the player instead of just using the game as a vehicle for a cashgrab. Just get it. 100% would recommend.

Gnorp Apologue is a strange game. I'd recommend it because it's still fun at the end of the day, but a lot of its features are very contradictory in a way that points to weird game design. The best example of this is how many things increase how far things launch and treat this as a good feature. It comes with a lot of upgrades. You might be tempted to think that this is good because it makes shards (the currency that spills from the rock) easier to collect, sometimes outright dropping them into the stash. Certain units shove them forward, many upgrades to statuses increase the knockback of said status (the first unlocked talent exclusively does this), and it all seems pointed toward making collection easier... but the game isn't about collection. Collection is a means to an end, it increases your talent point gain, but the goal is to make the pile tall, not wide. It's clear that a pillar of (the) is meant to be opportunity cost. Like many reviews (a lot of the negative ones especially) point out, it's more of a puzzle game than a traditional idler. If you're doing the wrong thing, you will find out when nothing happens for an hour. You might also realize too late that you've put 10-20 too many gnorps in something that turns out to have no use... only for it to be the highest damage option entirely like 1 prestige later, which you will inevitably not do since last run it didn't work out. Gnorp has a lot of wibble wobble like that. Conversely, doing the right thing means you beat this game in like 10-15 hours. I have 30 hours and counting because I really like the funny square dudes. Basically the game is a series of builds that you need to get close enough to in order to succeed. It doesn't require total adherence, but obviously the less on the mark you are the slower it's gonna be. If that sounds fun, enjoy. If not, I'd probably play NGU Idle, Cookie Clicker, Revolution Idle, Antimatter Dimensions, Mevlor Idle, Soda Dungeon 2, if you're desperate Adventure Capitalist is somehow still going... the genre's full of good games. Gnorp doesn't sit on the same pedestal as many of them (mostly just a lack of content, really), but if you want a short and sweet, tightly played, adorable game, here's your boi.

I was already enjoying the game. I got to a point where the gun sound was starting to get annoying and lo and behold there's an option to silence just that. 10/10 for that alone.

Incremental game that isn't just "Wait and you win". There is actual builds and strategy to getting to the next tier of progress. Very fun to watch the little gnorps run around.

I love the word Gnorp so much, I think I will add the word to my personal vocabulary. Lets go gnorping. Oh, the game is also good I guess.
