This is one of those rare indie games where you can immediately tell the developers made exactly the game they wanted to make, regardless of whether normal human beings would understand it. The strongest aspect is easily the atmosphere. Everything — the animations, sound design, creature designs, UI art — contributes to this surreal fever dream vibe that somehow stays entertaining for dozens of hours. The gameplay loop is also stronger than expected: Good incremental progression Fun layout optimization Satisfying unlock pacing Enough automation to reduce tedious grinding That said, it’s not perfect. The game occasionally overwhelms you with visual clutter, and some systems feel like they needed another polish pass before release. There are also moments where progression slows down enough that the experience starts feeling repetitive. But honestly? I’m glad games like this still exist. It’s creative, uncomfortable, funny, disgusting, and weirdly addictive. I’ll probably never recommend it to my friends because I’d sound insane trying to explain it.
I really don't know what happened. One moment I was playing other idler games just laughing at how absurd they were getting, and the next moment I was recommended this game and felt all of my friends physically distance themselves away from my person. Time really did just fly by and it was funny how surreal it felt while I played this game. Overall, I think I enjoyed it? Go ahead and give it a try, it really does not demand much from you on any real level, so long as you are into goofy absurdity, which I do know I like. And as forewarning, this game does get weirdly gross, and funnily enough, not super graphic(?). It really is hard to explain, but I do think if you watch the videos and see some of the images, you will really know if you will like this game. However, I don't know how but at some point I think the gameplay just kind of peters out where it felt like I was doing the same thing, but maybe that is just a byproduct of idler game in general. Tingus Goose really did push the limits of what I was capable of tolerating from this genre, just because of how absurd it got, finishing each level felt like reward in its own way, like I overcame the nightmare each time. And if you want to get into mechanics, this game is like other idlers/clickers where you are monotonously monitoring some object and you are making subtle improvements to it and being rewarded for earning more and more of given currency. However, I am just used to one status quo with regards to idler games, meaning just one object that is supercharged over time. But Tingus Goose operates on a mission system, where you progress through a given challenge level and eventually beat each level. You have upgrades that are permanent and carry over through each level up, but inside of every mission, you unlock different tools and in-mission upgrades which do not carry over when you beat the level. I will say, that was a very interesting aspect of the gameplay. I think I did enjoy unlocking things over time and seeing how else it could get crazier, and this game kept delivering all the way. Go ahead, buy it.
