NOTE! I encourage you to play The Last of Us Part 1 first, as the events of the first game are a continuation of the adventures My review will, of course, include comparisons to The Last of Us Part 1! My review of the first game can be found here https://steamcommunity.com/id/KINGVikingBezimienny/recommended/1888930/ Action adventure game with survival elements. The story takes place several years after the events of the first game, in a world devastated by a fungal epidemic that transforms people into aggressive creatures. The player primarily assumes the role of Ellie, who embarks on a brutal journey motivated by revenge. This is the best adventure game I've ever played! Why? You'll find the answer in the arguments below ✅Once again, I'll describe what I really liked about the first game and what was expanded in the second game, primarily Ellie and Abby's relationships with other characters in The Last of Us Part II, who they were involved with, and how these relationships influence the events of most of the game ✅In my opinion, the plot was more interesting, surprising, and better than in the first game. It was great that we could experience both sides of the story: the ability to play from the perspective of Ellie ,who was seeking revenge (for Joel's death) and at one point had to face the consequences of her decisions, and Abby, who was seeking revenge for her father's death. Later in the game, quite unexpectedly, both characters finally meet in the same place, leading to a fight. The game had plenty of plot twists for the supporting characters, which I also really liked ✅In terms of graphics, it's once again excellent and better than in the first game. The game has more detailed character models, more realistic facial and movement animations, better lighting, denser foliage, and more refined weather effects and environmental physics. Thanks to this, the characters' facial expressions and behavior more effectively convey their emotions, both in cutscenes and during gameplay ✅The sound is also superior to the first game, although it was already excellent in The Last of Us Part 1. Thanks to the more advanced surround sound, it's easier to pinpoint the origin of enemy and infected sounds. Gunshots, impacts, and explosions sound more natural and realistic. The sound better responds to the environment (echoes, muffled sounds in buildings, creaking buildings, and birdsong). ✅The shooting is well-done because weapons have realistic recoil, and each weapon reacts differently (of course, we can upgrade them for more precise recoil, but that's in the next section). Each shot can affect enemies' reactions through noise, and they know exactly where you fired ✅This part of the game also features an upgrade system. In the workshop, we can upgrade various things, such as larger magazine capacity, faster reloads, better accuracy, or reduced noise (this applies to the silenced pistol). While exploring, we also collect supplements that unlock skill trees like stealth, crafting, health, or weapon upgrades ✅Another advantage, better crafted than in the previous installment, is the more atmospheric and detailed locations, primarily centered around Seattle, which is vast, diverse, and changes with the weather and the story. Compared to the first installment, the locations are more extensive and open, allowing us to search for notes or resources, or find hidden workshops or safes ✅Two distinct character personalities: Ellie, who, after certain events in the game that I won't spoil, is more emotional, impulsive, and often acts on anger, while Abby Anderson is more disciplined, pragmatic, and usually tries to think more rationally ✅We have 6 difficulty levels in the game (Very easy, easy, moderate, hard, survival, brutal). As the difficulty level increases, enemies become more alert and accurate, and resources become more limited ✅New monsters have been added to those from The Last of Us 1 (Runners, Lurkers, Clickers, and Bloaters). "Shamblers" have also been added, which spray clouds of acid gas around them, damaging and blinding them and exploding upon death. A giant boss, the "Rat King," consisting of numerous infected creatures fused together with mycelium, has also been added. New faction, the Rattlesnakes, has emerged, and they are the only human faction to use Clickers and Runners as tools of torture and defense ✅New moves have been added in the second installment, such as dodging and crawling under obstacles, as well as stronger melee attacks (especially for Abby), and improved enemy intelligence ✅The game also contains notes, letters, journals and other documents left by people after the epidemic (I recommend looking for them, we can learn more about what happened during the epidemic, unfortunately I missed some somewhere Xd), as well as collector's cards, coins, training manuals that unlock new branches of skills and safes that may contain resources or upgrades ✅The game's price is appropriate for the game's content ✅After completing the game, you can see the behind-the-scenes of the game's development and other unlockable features After completing the game, you can see the behind-the-scenes of the game's development and other unlockable features ✅❌How Here everyone always has to decide for themselves whether they like such games because the game is linear in terms of plot and often provides large, semi-open locations to explore, especially in Seattle ❌What I didn't like about the first game, and the second, is that we can't go back to the previous location to explore other areas. Sometimes I'd open a door thinking it led to an optional room, only to find it was a transition to the next stage of the story, with no way to go back and finish exploring ❌Another drawback is that some items, such as gadgets, are unlocked after completing the game, such as additional weapon skins and attachments ✅✅ Verdict: Terrible , Bad , Mediocre , Decent , Good , Very Good , Excellent , Masterpiece If you'd like to see more of my reviews, you can find them on my curator page: [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45994324/admin/reviews_manage/]CuratorKingViking and on my group: [url=https://steamcommunity.com/groups/CuratorKingViking]GroupKingViking If you have any questions about my reviews, feel free to ask. 100% Completion What can I say it's worth every single cent I've spent on it. Comparing to the first part it has done a big leap forward in terms of gameplay and versatility of how you can proceed through levels. The combat feels more dynamic, stealth is deeper. I also really enjoyed the Grounded mode. It completely changes the way you approach the game forcing you to think more carefully, manage resources wisely, and adapt your playstyle. It made every encounter feel more intense and rewarding, pushing me to play smarter rather than just relying on common run'n'gun tactics. Playing 4K has been smooth and immersive.

Absolute Cinema 🎮 Introduction When I first time launched The Last of Us Part II, I expected something really powerful - but I had no idea just how much. It's not just a sequel to a cult classic, but a brave, mature statement that isn't afraid to delve into complex moral themes. Honestly, I liked the first game, but it didn't evoke any strong emotional response. Sure, the atmosphere was cool, the plot was interesting, but something was missing to really grip me. But the The Last of Us Part II is a whole other level. It's heavy, deep, and painful. It's not about "good" and "bad," but about how difficult it is to live with pain, how hard it is to let go of the past, and how revenge can be just as destructive as the loss itself. This is a story about broken people trying to survive, cope, and preserve themselves - and they don't always succeed. The Last of Us Part II turns your perspective upside down until you realize every character is just a person trying their best in a garbage world. However, that doesn’t take away from the strength of the narrative. The game doesn’t simply tell a story, it count you to empathize, to question your perspective, and it leaves you with lingering thoughts long after. The game itself is a brutal cycle of love, burning hate, and depression. The story of revenge isn't just the driving force of the plot, but an endless, painful circle that's difficult to escape. The story is not just a journey of heroes, but a real moral dilemma where every choice and every action comes with a cost. The game forces players to reconsider concepts like revenge, forgiveness, justice, and self-sacrifice. In a world where everything is destroyed and every day is a fight for survival, it’s hard to determine who is right and who is wrong, and what exactly should be done. 🧠 Main idea The story reflects something painfully real about human nature. How easily we hate those we do not know. How quickly we label someone a monster. And how often we discover that even our enemies carry the same grief we do. It shows how revenge feels powerful at first, almost righteous. But the deeper you go, the more it consumes you. Justice taken into your own hands can spiral into something darker than expected. Every action has consequences, and they return faster than we imagine. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3706241446 🎭 Characters & Story The story takes place several years after the first game. Ellie is now a nineteen-year-old woman - more mature, tougher, but still with that same charm that defines her. Ellie has changed. Not on the surface, but deep inside. Her obsession with revenge drives her every action. It slowly turns her into something else - someone darker. The game dares to do something bold: it makes you doubt your own role. Ellie starts to look more and more like the villain, while Abby, who "only" avenged her father, begins to seem... human. Abby is a complicated character. It’s not easy to connect with her - partly because of her physical appearance - but her story is real and painful. She loses her friends, her father, everything. This contrast between characters adds so much depth to the narrative and makes it incredibly powerful. 🕹️ Gameplay and Design I finished the game on the “Survivor” difficulty level, and that journey in itself was unforgettable. The difficulty could be frustrating at times, but it only deepened my connection to the game. I had never experienced such intense enjoyment from game combat. From a gameplay perspective, the game is absolutely satisfying. The mechanics have been significantly improved, and the game was so immersive that I never once felt bored, even after playing for long hours. 🌍 World and Atmosphere The level of detail and graphical fidelity is staggering. Dismembered limbs, blood staining snow after you step into a puddle, the physics of hair, drifting snow particles. It’s "aesthetic misery" at its finest, the world is breathtakingly beautiful, but the gore and detail are so realistic. 🎵 Music and Sound Just like the first game, the music is incredible. It knows when to stay quiet and when to rise. «Meeting Nora» such a brutal soundtrack that I listened to it many times. The sound design is also terrifyingly good. I can’t count how many times I was scared just from hearing a Clicker hiss through my headphones, or a Stalker breathing around the corner. It’s unbelievably immersive. ❌ Issues Unfortunately, the game includes some odd coincidences and immersion-breaking details that I noticed. Here are a few examples: - Joel and Tommy randomly trusting a stranger; - Abby torture the man who just saved her; - enemies conveniently choke or toss Ellie aside instead of finishing her with a bullet; - Ellie sustains injuries which would otherwise be fatal multiple times, such as a the tree branch makes a pretty deep wound; - Abby betraying her comrades for the sake of the first children Scars you met, who just yesterday were cutting down in droves. I still think the Santa Barbara part isn't entirely necessary. Perhaps it should have been saved for the next game, like Ellie's fingers, for example, but I accepted it without question. ❤️ Conclusion The Last of Us Part II isn’t just a game. It’s an emotional cycle, a powerful story of pain, revenge, and humanity. It challenges you - it makes you feel. Whether you can forgive Abby, or grieve Joel, is up to you. Naughty Dog ™ have once again shown that video games can be more than just entertainment - they can be a powerful tool for conveying complex, multi-layered stories. As a fan of the series, I think the second game offers a bolder and more layered story than the first. It doesn’t just show you one side of the coin it asks you to look at the other side as well. The story doesn’t unfold in a way that pleases everyone. To me, this sequel raised the bar. The characters are phenomenal, the atmosphere is oppressive in the best way, the music is flawless, and the gameplay is tight and refined. The graphics and performance are at the top of their game. And yes - I’ll absolutely play it again in New Game+. I encourage you to form your own impressions, because this game is beautifully crafted with attention and care you can’t see in other modern titles.

I felt the Last of Us part 1 and 2 on grounded difficulty are extremely good at making you feel the threat that is posed by it's world. There's no hud, no health indicator and the enemies are really competent. They will flank you and try to flush you out of your position. Many times I've had one guy covering my position while another makes an approach so if I try to shoot out of cover, they will kill me. That's the closest feeling of being hunted that I've gotten out of a game ever.

I experienced this game for the first time recently and wow. This game has truly changed my perspective on video games and media as a whole. My previous favorite game before playing The Last of Us Part II was Red Dead Redemption 2 and I didn't think it was possible to get much better than that, but boy was I wrong. I have already played through the story twice and this game has truly blown me away and redefined what a good video game is to me, this is more than a game, this is an emotional experience that will stick with you for the rest of your life. I need to be clear, if you are looking for a casual video game to kick back and play after work, or you have a difficult time sticking with long stories or getting your feelings hurt than this game is not for you. This game will tear your heart out, shatter it into a million pieces and then make you watch as everything you love gets destroyed. This game is bold, gruesome, unforgiving, and straight up depressing. This game will make you laugh with joy, cry with sorrow, furious with anger and everything in-between. No other piece of media has mentally affected me on the same level that this game has and I can't recommend it enough. On a technical side of things this game has some of the best looking graphics and the best looking character models I have ever seen in a video game. The animations are incredible and there are so many mind blowing details scattered around the entire game that have thoroughly impressed me. Playing with a Dualsense controller is an incredibly polished experience and using the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback brings the immersion level up an entire notch. Lots of people criticize this game for its story but that is the best part in my opinion, I won't get into spoilers but this game forces you to look at perspectives that you don't want to see, forces you to watch things you don't want to watch, do things you don't want to do, and in the end leaves you frustrated, confused, and upset. and that's the point. I walked away from my first play through feeling all of these emotions, and after playing this game for the second time my perspective completely changed, I watched my thoughts and believes get pulled and stepped on in real time leaving me extremely conflicted. This is not your traditional game, this isn't your classic "good guy bad guy" story, this is something that messes with your feelings and emotions on a deeper level and leaves you thinking about it for hours even when you aren't playing. I highly recommend you give this game a try and don't discard this masterpiece because your feelings get hurt in the first few hours, if you stick with it and allow yourself to accept the story, it will change how you view the world, at least that's what it did for me.
