I'd give this game a neutral rating if I could. Will give it a positive review, since a negative feels a bit unfair. After 10 hours and 4 completed runs, all I can say is that this game could be so, so much more than it currently is, but it seems unlikely that it'll be developed any further. Visually, it's great. Core gameplay loop is decent and fun, but is lacking depth. In fact, every system in this game is lacking depth: - If you have any experience with rougelikes or ARPGs, it'll take you about an hour to figure out the strongest synergies. Given how easy it is to reroll abilities and passives, you'll be able to turn every run into a god run - The fishing system is pointless and doesn't add anything. It's faster to farm divine coins and food by killing enemies - you can finish the whole game without ever realizing there's a fishing minigame - The hunger / food system also adds nothing to the gameplay, it's just a chore to press F every 20s to eat - The game's difficulty scales too slowly. By the time I've hit difficulty 4, I was killing the last boss while being significantly below max level - just using all the level 5 bow-related perks - The enemies lack diversity and any sort of distinction beyond "runs at you to melee" and "runs near you to spam projectiles" - All boss mechanics are trivialized by any of the healing perks - you can just tank every hit and outheal them - For some reason, physical damage and attack speed scale with % bonuses, but magic damage is always a flat damage increase, meaning that magic damage is just worse in almost all builds. The only fun I had with mage builds was to bind all skills to the same button and spamming that. - All the achievements are bland and boring. I could go on and on, but I'm just frustrated. This game has a solid foundation and gameplay bones, but feels half-assed. Or kind of still in EA. There's also a bunch of typos in skill descriptions which feels sloppy. I don't regret picking it up on a 40% discount, but wouldn't pay full price for it.

It's fun. for something so small it causes quite a bit of lag but nothing crazy. Addictive, somewhat repetitive, but extremely enjoyable.

Played about 18 hours, husband played more. Very fun and addictive game! However...we started noticing some unbalanced issues, such as bow users ability to equip a sword and a bow. Bows are 2 handed, so should be treated as such, especially since other 2 handed melee can't equip a secondary weapon, fairly certain a warrior type can't dual wield I dunno since I didn't try one, but even mages using just a wand can't equip a secondary. Also, magic can not utilize crit which is ironic since crit often appears on magic gear, whereas bow users can utilize crit. I'm guessing other melee classes can as well. Bow users have many skills which synergize without penalty, whereas magic users skills often cost health or do self-damage. Look, I know the title says "Rangers" in it, but the other classes seem to get the shaft. Nevertheless, the gameplay itself, the biomes, the dungeons, it was very fun!
