The most sexy thing about this game is the devs’ minds, because boy, is this game walking, swaying, winking, flirtatious eye-candy. This is why we need more people with a theatrical artistic streak making games, because the whole thing just performs. The most important principle, in my opinion, when it comes to artistic productions, is that the whole must be greater than the sum of its parts. Every piece, no matter how small, no matter how much of an embellishment and a frill, casts a MUCH larger echo in the space of the experience that’s carefully curated and delivered onto your platter on a night of fine dining. The Sexy Brutale exemplifies how that principle should be executed. Every character, their background and story, their costume, their personality….every room and every piece of decoration and furniture in it….every corridor and every story it tells….every moment of every scene with every interaction and tone….chef’s kiss. There’s no point in telling you what the game concept is, or what the aesthetic is like, because you already know it just by looking at screenshots and reading the premise. What I CAN tell you is that the execution delivers on every promise of every feeling a game like that is supposed to make you feel. Fancy masquerade? You’ll FEEL it. Noir mystery? You’ll FEEL it. Artistically dramatic flamboyant Victorian tragedy? Oh, will you FEEL it. This game weaponizes sensation. The art direction is sensational, the storytelling and gameplay is sensational, the progression of events is sensational….you get the point. This game doesn’t entertain you; it spoils you. Oh, and don’t let the name and art direction fool you; this game isn’t comedic-whimsical. Its HEAVY. It slaps you repeatedly, beginning with a few flirtatious slaps, gradually turning into slaps that are….kinda painful, before you go “HOLD ON, OWW.” Phenomenal. Bravo. Exemplary. Many devs who make a game centered around its aesthetics and art tend to compromise gameplay and, ultimately, the experience. THIS is how it should be done. This. This is the standard.

I only just recently saw the YouTuber's Ozzy II's video on Time Loop games, and in that video he heralds this has one of the better time loop games he's seen. It inspired me to go buy the game and play it for myself. When I got to the end of the game, I was heartbroken. It was beautiful and fun and amazing to play and I wish I had a hundred more hours of game to play. It deserves all the love. I am so happy I was led to it.

This may just be the most underrated puzzle game I've played. I see nobody talking about it anywhere but I had a fantastic time playing through it. The gameplay feels great and the story is surprisingly good. A very positive experience overall. I'm surprised that this doesn't have a terribly drunk comment from me already. Anyhow, this is one of my favourite games. I love all the puzzles and little twists the game throws your way. Genuinely in my top 10 of games.
