I've played nonstop daily, I've probably played 2-3 hours a day and I'm already at 19 almost 20 hours played, I just unlocked the forth weapon and I have yet do even finish any side quests. This game is amazing and has so many different things to do. Each boss you defeat you get their soul and your able to equip it to a weapon granting you extra abilities basically. The most useful is from one of the first bosses, Sabnock, and it makes the healing orbs that drop give 2 health points back instead of one. This game has so many things to do and I have yet to get bored. I would 10/10 recommend trying, especially for the cheap price it comes for. After playing so much, I believe this game is worth more than they are even selling it for. This is the only game review I've ever written out of every game I have ever played, This is by far my favorite game. I have read through other reviews and I am here to correct their mistakes because they couldn't figure things out. First off. Somebody mentioned playing and not unlocking nay new weapons. There are 4 weapons, and you receive them after certain bosses. There are many bosses in this game, so do not expect to get them quickly as they are spread out between the bosses. Next, somebody mentioned quests being cut off. And I believe this can be true, as the quest for the book piece part two was cut off because the quest giver was corelia which turned out to be the area's main boss at the end and you had to kill her removing the quest. another person mentioned the lack of media on how to do things. But be serious, do you really want to ruin the entire point of the game by getting a complete tutorial. I mean find the things yourself its not even that difficult. Just get better if you really were about to rely on media to find secret sidequests or other things. Spend time and enjoy the game, you can always speedrun later. You can only learn something for the first time once, don't waste it with a tutorial. Took me 20 hours to beat. Was not expecting the ending at all.
I found this game to be a lot of fun and I think it's a hidden gem. If you like souls games or just games with difficult bosses in them, then I recommend giving this one a try. The game art design/ visuals and sound design were very well made. I disagree with a lot of the other reviews that I've seen. I like the combat system. I think it goes farther in depth than how I played it. I did not juggle the skills as you were probably intended, but the few times that I did felt good. My only criticism with the combat is that the shield for some of the bosses felt completely useless. However, that could have been by design. I saw a lot of comments calling the game frustrating, but that's how these games are. Elden Ring was frustrating, but still a great game. So was dark souls. Finally, I don't see how the game is unfair. Once you learn the move set of an enemy they aren't a problem anymore. The moments when your in an arena with a bunch of enemies can be challenging, but very doable. Overall, great game 8.8/10.
This game is fun, but it's definitely not for everyone. I came looking for a combat-heavy skill check, but this game 100% leans into its RPG elements. There is a very heavy focus on narration and world-building. TONS of lore. Amazing art. Combat almost seems like an afterthought. This game feels like it was developed by artists and authors rather than by game-designers. Certainly unique and interesting, but not my favorite. (Hot demon-hunter mommy saved my experience btw)
Now that i 100% game on Warrior some time ago, i might have a moral right to post some of my feedback (previously posted on forums) into reviews section: 1. Combat feeling is pretty bad. It is dynamic and responsive, but lacking animation balance of some sort, where you're not getting punished for overlapping stuff. That mostly relates to mobs, NOT Bosses. 2. Bosses are great. Simplistic gameplay design combined with outstanding visuals makes every fight very enjoyable and memorable, even if you cut the boss with certain spam combos in 15 seconds. 3. Learning curve is insane. Im pretty casual player and i tend to avoid hard games, sticking to easy stuff. I had to return later, after some people told me that i just looked at this game under wrong angle and in fact it is pretty easy. And yes, it actually is. Nothing tells you that, however, nor in tutorials or environment. 4. NG+ has flaws due to "no medkits" design pinned in by default. Second Mothers Gift is useless, lot of corners and secrets are empty. There should be tweaks to the core of NG+ balance to address that. 5. I DO NOT find the necessity of "Estus Flask" addition for this title. In fact, having one would MASSIVELY hurt pretty decent baseline healing mechanic and its synergy with an amazing "Boss Souls" system. People advocating for it, likely still within searching for second major soul or never played past first area. 6. "Souls" part is largely misleading in PR and communication. This game is more of a lightweight DMC in grim setting than a Souls game. 7. Worlds integrity suffers from lack of economy. Having any sort of man-made common currency and ways to spend it (quests unlocks, consumables in addition to karma stuff, exchange for karma through donations) would massively boost the immersion of that world. 8. Art direction is SUPERB. 9. Storytelling is ok, cringy at times due to Samedi being an edgy 17-years old emo wanker. 10. Lore telling and information distribution is great and easily accessible even for people with not much of an interest in collecting lore details.
The quality of the writing isn't always top-notch: in English there are misspellings and grammatical errors, and the tone in which characters speak can sometimes seem a bit off. But, otherwise this game was great. Be warned however, there really isn't any light to be found... not thematically anyway.
