Fun little mystery with multiple endings, but it's easy to complete a playthrough in one sitting so you can go back for another route if you want (or just make plenty of saves). Also, there are no jumpscares, so little weenies like me can play without freaking out. There is a short section played in the dark but nothing is gonna get you, I promise :)

This isn't an investigation game about finding the right suspect and getting a sense of accomplishment out of it. If you want a game like this, don't waste your time with This Bed We Made. This game is about the objects that tell stories. You can shape the whole development of the game by keeping or hiding items. And the process of finding out clues about the guests of the hotel is really satisfying. I wasn't expecting the game to be like this, but to me it was a really nice surprise.

One of the best "choices matter" games I've played in years. Very evocative. The complaints I mainly see are about how you can't respond in ways people would like to, in conversation. But keep in mind: this is not a character customization game. We are walking in to an already-established personality, and our conversation options are limited (in tone) based on this. We still have a great deal of freedom of plot.

No spoilers + tips from a very easily scared person I really enjoyed this game. The most common complaint I see from other reviews is the length of the game being too short (around a four or five hour play time for one run), which I understand. However, there are multiple people who can be blamed for the crime, and this depends completely on player choice. Additionally, hindsight is HUGE in this game, and you may screw up trying to get the ending you were hoping for. So, attempting all endings will be double the play time, especially if you restart the game instead of using saves. Obtaining every achievement is difficult without looking up the hidden achievements (all of the endings). Every ending is specific and is influenced by choices from earlier in the game. For example, two endings may blame the same person of the crime, but they differ in the changes to Sophie's life (or other characters). I found all of these aspects clever! In my first play through I missed the most important clue and had an unsatisfying ending. After finding the clue in my second play through, I was so shocked! If you find that clue, the true story connects so well! But, as some people point out, this game isn't like an escape-room type game. All of the clues and evidence are easy to find and connect easily as well. However, just because this is true, that does not make obtaining an ideal ending easily. It's not at all obvious what choices affect the ending. Tips: 1. When you first gain control of Sophie, make a save. After switching locations, make a save (ex, just entered basement, make a save). This is key if you want to see all endings or if you make a mistake. 2. Click on everything you see. Sometimes there is an option to zoom in further on the evidence. Be sure you do that if it pops up. If you don't, the game won't identify further clues or evidence. 3. Read the maid checklist on Sophie's cart to ensure you clean correctly. This is important for a few endings. 4. If you can hear people talking behind a door, be sure to approach and listen. If you don't, you may not gain achievements because the game doesn't recognize the story progress. 5. If you leave a location and return later, there can be new clues or evidence. So even if you searched top to bottom, double check. 6. If you replay the game or a save for new achievements, you do not have to analyze everything again. Just fulfill the requirements of the achievement. Slight SPOILER 7. If you are very easily scared or paranoid person like me, this game is doable. There are no jump scares, but there are two scenes that are unsettling and eerie. This includes when Sophie first enters room 505, as well as when she is in room 509, hangs up the phone with Beth/Andrew, and makes a note about the "elevator being jammed." During these scenes, I had to listen without sound because I was expecting a jump scare, but there are none. Hope this helps!

This is a tough one to recommend and really just depends on what you want from a game. Overall, I do think this is good, but if you are looking for a game where you have to use logic and solve a mystery, then this isn't it. Really this is a fairly linear story-driven game, and as long as you search everything you can your character does all the sleuthing for you. I love games where you are the detective but so far this isn't it. I went in with a notepad and everything and was taking notes for the first half hour until I realized that it didn't matter. Between the in-game note taking and the main character doing the hard work, it was pretty straight forward. A good story, to be sure, but not particularly challenging. I will admit that I am past what one may call the prologue of the game, so I may continue it and update later.
