a very good bullet heaven game, with fantastic artwork, exciting music, meta progression and different characters to play with. There are several types of missions that occur randomly through different stages of the game. Each stage is harder, but the types of missions stay relatively the same. RNG can make the game harder or easier, but overall the game can be as hard or as easy as you choose, because it all depends on your own weapon choice. After several playthroughs, I found that there is absolutely one weapon build that overpowers everything else and this is the single flaw of the game - there are many weapons to choose from, each can be enhanced with 4 different add ons - which in theory should make the builds almost infinite and very diverse - like multiple projectiles, overwhelming damage, elemental damage, attack speed, larger projectiles, more duration, status effects etcs, etcs.... yet, I find that only few add ons are really worth it and some weapons with the same add on lodeout are just much weaker - they attack slower, they deal 1/3 less damage (and at max level with the same enhancements) or have far worse range and overall utility. This is so sad, because I love experimenting with different weapons and builds, yet each time I try something new... it just does not melt enemies like my best combination.... so I can either breeze through the game with ease... or struggle terribly with inferior weapons... I don't know if over time the devs will make more weapons better, but my experience with bullet heaven games is that devs just nerf the best weapons and make all equally bad... which is the worse option to enhance gamplay. I want to be rewarder with strong weapons,. not to stick with the one combo that works each game... Still, the gameplay is good, the meta progression is meaningfull (altough due to weapons being such crap, some enhancement are useless) and the overall vibe of the game is great. I love the art style, and the missions aren't long to get boring - just a few minutes and you can skip the mission at any time so you don't get bored... Good game, needs more powerfull weapons....
Middle option Time Treker is a horde survival game like Vampire Survivors. Its fun, but not that polished, unfortunately. Hence why I'd wish Steam had a recommendation option beyond yes and no. It takes a LONG time to get off the ground, but even with the dlc character there's not much variety in pilots, enemies, maps, etc.. Worse is that the unbalanced nature of the game makes you faces foes WAY beyond even the best load-out options you have in the early game. Die and try again I suppose. It's just fun enough to nudge the yes though... so Caveat Emptor.
