Lots of mixed feelings for this one PROS: -OST is good, not as good as the previous games. -Up to 4 playable characters (Travis, Bad Man, Shinobu and Bad Girl) however, they are almost identical except for some exclusive skills. -Lots of cameos from other Suda51 games and characters, and a lot of references to other games. -There is coop, it was a pain in the ass to set up to play with my gf, but it is fun thanks to the friendly fire, so its cool. -Silly arcade fun. CONS: -Unreal Engine, so the artstyle and aesthetic of the previous games is now gone. -Combat is completely different from the previous games. -Almost no voice-acting. -Half of the boss fights are terrible, as bad as the final boss of NMH2. -Reviving characters that were killed off on the previous games is stupid and lame, Deus Ex Machina type of lame. -Not a big fan of the VN sections, doesnt come close to how cool the cinematics on the previous games were. -Most levels are too long. I appreciate when devs try new things, but these new things have to be better than the old things, or, at least, as equally good, there is no point to change something if it aint broken. Unfortunately, this games tries too many new things, and the result its a No More Heroes game that doesnt have a lot of No More Heroes in it. Still great tho, but its a 5.5/10

I understand that the average SudaHead does not have friends, therefore cannot experience the game in the way it was intended. Genuine Peak, doesn't take itself too seriously. Coffee and donuts was punishment for favoring actions games.

I had the odd, "played NMH3 before Travis Strikes Back" experience, so I was playing this with different expectations going in. It's obviously a spin-off, and being a spin-off, it might not be what NMH fans are expecting in terms of content and gameplay, but it tries some neat ideas here and there. Some levels overstay their welcome a bit though with their gimmicks. Overall though, at it's core, it's definitely a Suda51 game and it delivers on the fan-service as well as having characters from his other games making cameos here and there. If you're caught between buying this and NMH3, get NMH3 (it was worth the wait). But if there's a sale, or you're looking for something to help bridge the gap between 2 and 3, give it a try. Music slaps too, like REALLY slaps, even for 20-30 second loops.

Pretty repetitive but undeniably interesting. Love the way this one is written and appreciate the various nods to Suda51's previous projects and games. If you like Suda51, this is at least worth trying out and seeing for yourself. If you are new to Suda51, this is a bit harder to recommend. The gameplay(specifically combat) is the weakest part, often repetitive and does very little to evolve over the course of the game. About halfway through I became done enough with the combat to actually find a walkthrough online to experience the rest of the script which was pretty fantastic, but I am a fan of Suda's previous work. 5.5/10

Travis strikes again is a schizo's diary coated in mechanics. While the game is fun on it's own, most of it is closely interwoven with SUDA51 career, the other No More Heroes games, and the games industry in general. Travis, Dr. Juve, and a few guest characters are all a mix between a representation of the writer, the player and themselves, creating a interesting dialogue where you can try and parse a deeper meaning when the plot can easily be paralleled into real world events. As for the game itself, it's harking back to SmashTV and friends. A fast paced, arcady combat, letting you get a good amount of skills to shake up combat, each stage bringing new basic mechanics to keep it all fresh throughout. Bring a friend if possible, while hard considering every stage is spaced out with long, weird, reference heavy visual novels, you get double the amount of skills to use, adding to the amount of synergies you can try out during combat.
