Really fun, but the grind is horrible. Also, if you buy the Season Pass, don't install the Bridge Melee and Rampage DLC unless you want certain characters turning into massive screen-eating giants every 1000 hits or ever charge magic.

This game gets way too much hate for how fun the gameplay is. Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is a blast, so you should try it if you enjoy the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series or musou games in general. The magic system is really fun to mess around with, and the characters are generally pretty good. Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate is missing a few characters that were included in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, but they also add a lot of new Greek gods and goddesses, as well as the newer characters that were introduced in Dynasty Warriors 8 and Samurai Warriors 4 DX (not II or SoS). In comparison, WO3U has 145 playable characters, while WO4U has 177. I'll update this again at a later point once I've made more progress in the game!

Despite the reviews, what people say about the game, how everyone compared it to the previous game, here's why I still love WO4. The total absurdity of it makes me feel like a kid again, playing with action figures of whatever I can get my hands on at the time. I remember when I was a kid, I used to play with action figures a lot; the green armies, X-Men, TMNT, etc. The amount of weird storylines I came up with as a kid was immense. WO4 makes me feel like that again. I got home from work, tired, the internet's not working again as per usual, the first thing that comes to mind is "Welp, better wipe out the gods of Olympus with Odin." I see the fourth game as a sandbox, filled with action figures that I can toy around with. I do agree that WO3 is better story-wise, and I consider it the canonical end of the WO series, but this 4th one is something special to me, personally. I hope I'm not the only one to feel like this towards the game.

4 is not as bad as everyone says, the story isn't as good as 3 but personally i think the gameplay is better and smoother plus costumes are from SW4 and DW8 and i think that's way better than 3's which are SW3 and DW7. You'll hear people say that gauntlet mode in 3 is superior but.....i disagree immensely both aren't good they are not the fun kind of grind in my opinion

dynasty/samurai warriors isekai with greek, norse, japanese and chinese mythology. pretty neat xy combination simulator. the reimagined characters from history are fun to figure out before the names are said.
