Warriors Orochi 4 isnt the best game in the series (WO3 is by far much better) however it is still the most recent game and you should get it for the character diversity and updated mechanics. The story mode is good despite being kind of repetitive and all over the place. The introduction of various gods and chaos was nice but the way it was handled was pretty lame. They spend the first 3/4 of the game having the characters fight each other working for different factions but that ends up resulting in nothing, only for the climax to be this rushed into alliance to challenge Odin. Not much spoilers there at this point in time since the games been out long enough...but yeah its an OK story mode. The maps and missions are also pretty lacking compared to other entries. They're challenging enough but they are not nearly as diverse or interesting as the previous 3 games due to the whole "gods of olympus" vibes. But I still recommend it. The game will fill at least 20 hours of your time running down the story and side missions, possibly longer if you take your time and farm up and dont just blitz it. And the magic system is a lot of fun. The ultimate edition is a much better and much more complete product however i dont consider it mandatory to enjoy the game. On sale you can get both for 20 dollars
Amazing. If you haven't played DW or SW games in a while, you're in for QUITE the treat. Characters have more depth of movesets than I expected as they start to level up, and then the magic system has been fascinating to watch in action, even if I'm sure you'll be juggling enemies endlessly in no time with that, character switch attacks, and "technique" heroes now be able to just add another attack into any combo at no cost and put enemies in the air. Everyone might be OP, but so I'm enjoying it as a relaxing game. Also unity attacks seem to be: "nuke the site from orbit."
This game puts the "ridiculous" in "ridiculously fun." Prefacing this with the fact that I'm not super far into the game yet, and not wanting to throw huge spoilers for what amounts to the story, within the first four hours: [*] Naomasa's foster mother Naotora Ii defeated mf'in' Lu Bu by kicking him in the face, and proceeded to apologize to him, "sumimasen." [*] I have turned Ma Chao into Gullinbursti, the golden boar of Norse mythology. [*] Strangely, the most normal thing on this list, Perseus came to save Yukimura Sanada from Nobunaga Oda, after absconding with Zeus's bracelets of Orochi. The story makes no sense. But the gameplay is way smoother than Warriors Orochi 3, the graphics look great, and it's just plain fun. goose seal of approval, 10 honks out of 10 >(o )
