Fun game. But could stand to do without the escort missions. They really disrupt the pacing of the game.

Something to keep in mind, this game is still in early access. I think some reviewers tend to forget that. That being said, this game is simple and fun. A typical bullet-hell that isn't trying to be something it's not. The gameplay is very linear, which honestly is a blessing nowadays. Some games try too hard and things like builds becomes excessively complex. This isn't that, at least not yet. I played a decent amount of hours and finished it on hard with a few characters. Here's a short list of pros and cons, in no particular order : Pros : - Simple and easy to learn - Gameplay is fun and addictive - Mechanics are generally well thought of - Nice to have multiple characters to choose from - Will eventually have multiple maps, only 2 right now in EA - I like the power-up system, it's simple and easy to understand Cons : - A few little bugs to work through, nothing major, just EA stuff - Everything feels a little slow, especially at first - Character design and sprites are overall a bit lackluster, although the illustrations are great - Music could be a bit better - Hard to see your cursor when there are a lot of enemies on screen I think many of the issues will get resolved with time so take them with a grain of salt. Overall, it's a fun little game and worth the asking price. I can't wait to see how it evolves with time.

Pure dopamine. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss fights, no "dodge 250 red circles of death raining all over the room", no "spend half of your levels on 'fun' stats like loot range" Just infinite enemies, aoe damage, surprising build variety, filling the screen with FX and damage numbers. It's purely mobbing if you enjoy that sort of thing. *But it is kinda slow, runs take 30ish minutes (though you can give up and still get rewards up until that point)

This game has a very clear idea of what it wants to do, and it executes on that idea well! "[...] the densest monster Survivor-like ever created" is a fun tagline, and it delivers that experience. I have done 1 single run so far, consisting of 2-4 minute rounds with varying objectives. Given I've only done the one, this is not an end-all statement about its difficulty, but it has leaned on the easier side so far. That hasn't mattered much, though, because the actual engagement with a difficulty is fulfilling objectives and managing obstacles like walls. Easy, but not entirely mindless, which I appreciate. The attacks certainly understand the assignment. Attacks that chain or pierce do A LOT of chaining or piercing at base. It feels incredible to watch the contagion dot chain through a crowd of 20 enemies. The fantasy is clear and works. Controls feel good, not particularly unwieldy and easy to swap between auto-target and manual fire. I do wish you could auto-fire while keeping mouse control, but it's not hugely important. Game's cute, stylization is fun and the art for the Zodiacs- characters associated with the various "buckets" of spells/passives- is all real good. This may change in the future, but don't think Hades, they're currently not here to chat, they just look good and make you strong. Give this a shot! I think it has the bones to stand up with the better titles in the genre with time and effort and love. If your draw to these games is the power fantasy, it's here.
