Kanoa Ranks: 7.5/10 100% Achievements: 13 Hours If you’re a fan of Life is Strange, Detroit: Become Human, or Heavy Rain, this will feel right at home. The interface and gameplay are familiar, and the mind palace mechanic (where you relive memories and plan your actions) has that same satisfying detective energy as DBH/Heavy Rain. Visually it looks great and runs smooth too. Story-wise, it’s a decent playthrough. It’s much shorter than similar titles (I finished in about 6 hours), but the choices genuinely matter and shape the story. There are 4 endings to explore, and they’re all interesting in their own way (the mind palace endings especially, specifically if Anna dies. That was my first ending and I was gagged. The endings are a little warmer socially if you keep your twin and stay in town to run the paper, but you miss the big twist that way. Definitely requires at least 2 playthroughs to get the full picture, and they make collectible mode easily accessible after your first run. I wish you could skip cutscenes on repeat playthroughs though. Fair warning: I guessed the villain and the twist within the first 30 minutes. A tad predictable. But how the story gets there is genuinely engaging, and the journals are well written. Worth sticking with. My biggest gripe? So many loose ends. Who exactly is the guy living in your head? Is he just a manifestation of extroversion because Sam grew up as a loner? His twin he absorbed in the womb? A symptom of schizophrenia? Does he have actual powers? The game never really answers this, and it’s hard not to fixate on it. Also — why can’t you be extroverted and introspective at the same time? LOL. Not a bad game, just one that leaves you with more questions than answers sometimes. 1000% worth it at sale price if you enjoy this genre though!
The game is somewhat good; the environment and graphics are really beautiful, which made the experience enjoyable. I liked the idea of analyzing situations and investigating the crime, and the decision-making aspect made me feel involved in the story. However, despite all that, it still felt like something was missing something I couldn’t quite put my finger on, as if it lacked a bit more depth or impact.
