I've played my fair share of deckbuilders, roguelites, and roguelike deckbuilders. This is hands-down one of the best out there. The sound and graphic design, the variety of builds and ways to unlock them, the themes and enemy designs... it's all so satisfying. What Vault of the Void has up on a lot of other similar games in the genre is the difficulty. Slay the Spire, Monster Train, and a other similar titles are fun, but once you've really figured out how to play deckbuilders as a whole, they get pretty easy pretty fast. VotV is much more difficult, and you'll actually have to use your brain for (most) of the archetypes you play into. And without spoiling too much, you are richly rewarded for completing runs with a lot of cool stuff to make future runs more interesting, challenging, or both. Also helps that the devs are a transparent studio of awesome people. If you enjoy deckbuilders, buy it. If you like a challenge, buy it. If you're on the fence, guess what - buy it. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Feels like Slay the Spire, except you can see and plan your rewards in advance on each floor. I also like that you can choose 2 of 4 bosses at the end so you don't get blocked by something that hard counters your build. The runs are a little on the longer side, though will probably speed up as you learn the (many) key words, Pretty good game overall.

This is my favorite RLDB game in the genre. 9/10. I have played others like Slay the spire and across the obelisk but the way this game works is incredible. The way defending against damage happens on the next turn, purging cards for more energy, power cards feel really impactful and build enabling like they should. I think the only thing I have experienced with this game that I wish was different, and the reason why I give this a 9 instead of 10, is I wish you had the option to choose a card from the entire classes deck to master instead of the couple options they provide you with. Being able to start every run on your favorite class with the card that enables the build you want to play would be incredible. I would definitely say, of the RLDB i have played, this one is by far my favorite for the control you have during combat and while navigating each floor planning your path based on which cards u want to add to your deck and then organizing your deck accordingly, and even enhancing your cards with gems to make good cards even better. This game cannot be overlooked or passed up on if you are a fan of the deck building genre. Worth every dollar.

I bought this on a whim and it turned out to be a hidden gem. The gameplay is interesting, it has a ton of optional modifiers to keep things interesting, and the dev team is pretty approachable: Once I posted on the subreddit suggesting that they add a "random modifiers" button, and the dev replied "cool idea!" and the next day it was live. All in all, excellent game.

I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth with this game. This game has the most reading I've ever done in a roguelike-deckbuilder. There's often a lot going on with many unique mechanics and effects in play. I think the complexity is done very well. I regularly found myself having to sit and think about how a turn needs to play out, but I did not feel like that was suffocating the game play. I like the way the different characters and deck styles play. There are plenty of card / item / crafting / etc choices to tune the decks how I want to play. but I still have that enjoyable feeling of hunting for what I need next to get the deck to pop off. There are plenty of out-of-combat events happening, and the choices I'm making feel like they matter. If you're used to roguelike-deckbuilders, I wouldn't say this game necessarily brings a lot of unique things to the table to stand out. The game feels like a very well made standard but complex roguelike-deckbuilder, and that's what I was hunting for when I bought it.
