Táto hra ma po technickej stránke znásilnila viac ako keď prvýkrát uzrel svetlo sveta Dark Souls 1 port pre PC. Veľmi ťažko sa tu hľadajú pozitíva, ale jedno veľké tu predsa len je. Je vidieť, že hra samotná bola tvorená s vášňou. Žiaľ ambícia vývojárov bola zjavne vyššia, než ich možnosti. Napriek tomu dávam palec nahor, už len za ten pokus. No v tomto prípade platí iba prvá polovica výroku "najskôr to sprav, potom to sprav dobré".
I decided to recommend the game, but take it with a grain of salt because there are indeed much more negatives than positives. So let's start with what's good. The game plays well. Car handling is done good; aiming during shootouts is easy. Missions are not very original gameplay-wise, but sufficiently diverse to keep you entertained. The storyline is interesting, and I think it's the main reason why the game is worth trying. The dubbing is acceptable, but to have just subtitles and do a proper technical bugfix would be a better option. The static piece of graphic is fine; the game went for the realism instead of its own art style. And, as it is mentioned everywhere, the game is full of technical issues, so let's quickly get over it (and all the other negatives). - The optimisation is awful. Much better-looking games can produce triple FPS. I suggest playing with settings, as higher options sometimes do better. But always be prepared for lags and FPS drops. - The size of the installation is unbelievable. How can this thing have 65 GB? - I expected issues with objects appearing in front of the character as older GTA games had the same issue, but it's exceptionally bad here. Some large objects apparently lack low-resolution models, so the whole building can appear just in front of you. - The traffic is terrible. Cars (and trams) do sudden turns, appear out of nowhere (and even disappear), and constantly hit each other. Pedestrians won't help, as they do a lot of weird things, walk in circles, ignore traffic lights and cause jams. There is a lack of animation, so the person being shot and (slightly) hit by a car plays the same drop-dead animation. Cars sometimes feel like they are made of cardboard, losing bumpers from a light hit. - I still don't know if occasional street light flickering is a bug or a feature. - The car reflection in the puddle is nice, but why no splash animation and wet tyres? Why did devs stop midway? - Bikes are fine except for the constant loud breathing and annoying comments of the main character. Also, bikes behave as cars; you can do unrealistic slides. There is no animation of the character falling off a bike, so it looks like a glitch. - I can go on and on ... The storyline is rather short. Besides that, there are optional races, courier missions, taxi driving and "Radosť" missions. The taxi driving gets repetitive pretty soon, so let's look at the rest. Races are a good idea, but the execution is ... infuriating. The timer – conveniently placed in the middle of the screen so you can barely see through it – is unforgiving and measured between checkpoints, so you may need up to 10 attempts just to learn the track (there is no marker for the next checkpoint, which makes things even harder), and then do it over and over again until the chaotic traffic and weird physics play in your favour and won't ruin your run. Keep in mind that doing a gold run, you have to do a perfect Trackmania-like run. Courier missions are pretty much just taxi missions with different cars. "Radosť" missions are fun but feel weird and out of place. Same as the courier missions, these are just for the product placement. Let's be positive in the end, so the city of Bratislava is well made, the atmosphere is good and you may be tempted to do a bit of exploring. Radio stations are sometimes funny, sometimes awkward; some jokes can be understood only if you are familiar with Slovak culture and politics.
If you have a propensity for playing rough, busted, slav-jank games, at 99 cents its a hard recommend. My morbid curiosity got the better of me. I wasn't sure if I was downloading a game or a virus. I remember seeing Vivat Slovakia in early access many moons ago and passing on it. The 1.0 version is buggy, performance is inconsistent, but with limited resources Team Vivat put software (although barely working) into the world. I have a deep respect for that. If you're a penny pincher and prefer polished experiences, stay far away.
