I don't get the "Paid server" slamming in the reviews here. You don't have to pay for anything, just host your own server via the "Wreckfest Dedicated Server" tool in your Steam Library and it's visible for everyone! Only thing you might have to do is to open port 30100 and that's it. Literally anyone can host any server with any rule for anyone with just a few clicks. Edit: - It is overpriced, and the recent price increase is not needed. - The "Scrap it" customization feature might be the best skin editor ever, a feature to share those creations with others would be nice, via the Steam Workshop for example.

This game is tons of fun. They just need to add local split screen and it will be a great game.

Having been around since the OG beta, and at the time being a content creator for BeamNG, Wreckfest has always excited me. The physical damage model is a lot better in Wreckfest 2, however they have done some weird stuff to the actual physics of the vehicles, almost feels like pre-scripted movements based on where one vehicle touches another. Instead of allowing physics to show in all it's glory, similarly to BeamNG. They for some sad reason decided to code in, what seems like pre-determined spinning out if you clip a vehicle with the front bumper. For example, inability to recover from a minor side swipe. If I side swipe a car, just barely, it shouldn't send me into a full blown tail spin like I had a semi truck clip my rear bumper going through an intersection. Among other odd, un-natural occurrences, in an otherwise fantastic upgrade from Wreckfest 1. This in my opinion is game breaking, having seen this game years ago, and now seeing how it's improved, I don't understand why you would absolutely muddy that up with these super un-natural physics. They have the right recipe here, I really hope they ditch that all together and try to take the more realistic approach. It feels like a cheap arcade game when it happens, and I mean the ones you put quarters in. It's like 80% "Yeah that was awesome I could totally see that happening" and 20% "that was just weird, why did my car do that after this" The vehicles do feel heavy, but not in a great way, they feel like their close to how they should feel, but i'd like to see less "On rails" and more suspension travel, all vehicles feels the same. Regardless of which vehicle your in. In reality different suspension geometry is going to give the chassis, or unibody vehicle different handling characteristics, as will the weight distribution etc. Other reviews stated it felt like a microwave on wheels. Well, add in body roll, compression and decompression and rebound values to the different vehicles. Hopefully the code for the vehicles supports at least some basic forms of suspension geometry otherwise this will end up like GTAV where everything is sitting on the same independent suspension across the board even thought it's model has a solid axle, or trailing axle, whatever. I think if Bugbear see's this and to best of their abilities and the engines capabilities, accomplishes these few things. They could 100% capture what BeamNG has failed too do, due to lack of direction and constant internal corporate issues, and what Forza and other racing games have never been able to do. Destruction & Racing competition done right. Nowadays you have two options, BeamNG for anything physics simulated, or ALL other racing games that basically handle on a set of train rails, with varying degrees of how well it's implemented. I think Wreckfest could bridge the gap, and create a whole new genre. Maybe even use the destruction development here and implement it into normal racing games. I'm sure some bean counter somewhere will disagree though. Anyway, I'd recommend the game to anyone who could careless about anything I just said. This is a great modern day Burnout replacement, and the perfect casual game to waste some time for all of us car guys and girls.

The game is just a demo version, there is absolutely no content, the graphics are beautiful, the physics are gorgeous, but you have to wait for the full release, there is nothing to do for now. I bought it to support the developer.

Funny how most of the negative reviews are from people who didnt even play the game for an hour, or have zero idea what early access means. I bought WF1 in early access, when it was known as next car game. It had bare bone features, and minimal content. When the game left early access, it was a full blown, highly customizable, amazing game. I have zero doubts WF2 will follow the same path. The most recent content update shows that the devs are truly putting everything they have into WF2. The detail they are putting into the tracks is insane, and the extra focus on how uneven some tracks are adds a whole new dynamic. WF1 feels rather flat when racing most tracks, on WF2 you feel and absorb every little bump in the track, making strong race lines is no longer following the best apex, but also knowing where and how to avoid certain dips and divots in the track. Realistic damage in WF1 is basically an express ticket to DNF/Spectator, WF2 realistic damage is much more...., realistic. Cars can take a beating, while slowly degrading. Downshift at the wrong time, redline your rpms for too long, and youll start blowing up your engine. I busted my radiator and was leaking coolant, by the end of the race I got the notification that my coolant was empty... on the last lap my car at 25% health, burst into flames and died. This type of immersion is really intense mid race. The dynamic of knowing that if you downshift too early you can blow a piston or head gasket really makes you focus on how hard your racing and determining if your car will maintain throughout the laps or if you need to take it a bit easier to complete the race. Early access is the best time to get into this game, currently the cars can not be tuned, or upgraded with new parts, meaning the playing field is extremely fair, giving the newbies a chance to improve their skills and not be blown out of the water every race. The playerbase right now is all mostly racers, very rare to run into an idiot going backwards. Brings me back to the early days of WF1 before the main populace turned into mostly wreckers. I put ~1600 hours into WF1, its one of my all time favorite games. Ive been having a real hard time going back to it after picking up WF2, the improvements are so vast it makes 1 feel very dated now. Bugbear delivered everything and more with WF1. WF2 will be no different, all the clowns who have posted negative reviews with less than an hour played can be ignored. Bugbear isnt the type of dev to put a game into EA and then abandon it a year later. This game will deliver, it will absolutely blow WF1 out of the water when its complete. 10/10 cant wait to see it grow over the next few years.
